UN-REDD PROGRAMME NEWS
The UN-REDD Programme Executive Board has general oversight for the Programme, taking decisions on the allocation of the UN-REDD Programme fund resources. The first meeting of the Executive Board will take place at the FAO Headquarters in Rome this week.
At this annual meeting for indigenous leaders representatives from around the world discussed progress in using community grants to promote grassroots inclusion in REDD+, and much more.
COUNTRY REDD+ ADVANCES 
Ecuador is the second country worldwide that has finalized its REDD+ readiness process as defined by the Warsaw Framework. It is now eligible to receive REDD+ Result Based Payments for the reduction of emissions from deforestation measured during the period 2009-14 and reported to the UNFCCC. 
A UN-REDD Programme-supported workshop on "Land Cover Map Accuracy and Training Workshop on FAO SEPAL Remote Sensing Tool" provided practical technical support to Indonesia on forest change detection including deforestation and fire mapping.
With support from the UN-REDD Programme and Norway, Viet Nam has made strong progress in the past year on the national forest policy agenda. Two key landmark decisions reflect this development.
The National REDD+ Strategy of Sri Lanka, the 'National REDD+ Investment Framework and Action Plan (NRIFAP)', has now been endorsed for implementation by the Government of Sri Lanka. 
Forestry officials from across Asia and the Pacific region have been exchanging ideas and experiences in both reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the forest sector, and in submitting the detailed reports that are a critical part of REDD+. 
A pool of academics and government technical officers in Bangladesh is now equipped with skills to provide training on Greenhouse Gas Inventories (GHGi) thanks to a recent training-of-trainers event.
Guyana's Ameridian Land Titling Project, funded by the Guyana REDD+ Investment Fund, recently adopted guidelines for Amerindian Land Titling in Guyana. The guidelines, developed by stakeholders including the government, indigenous peoples as well as other natural resource users, aims to address stakeholder grievances and improve Guyana's land titling processes.
The CAFI Executive Board and the Government of Gabon are negotiating mutual commitments to implement the Gabonese National Investment Plan that will help deliver the country's forest-based commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement.
Following Equatorial Guinea's launch of its REDD+ investment plan development process earlier this year, the country has built national capacity on Measurement, Reporting and Verification of carbon emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.  A study of the drivers of deforestation and degradation in Equatorial Guinea has also been initiated.
