Wendie Forman, Vice President
I want to introduce myself as the new VP of Fund Development for NCJW/Cleveland.
There are many ways to financially support NCJW/Cleveland's mission and ensure that our future is healthy and solid:
ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN
NCJW's Annual Campaign, a major source of funding for our operating budget will be kicking off in the Fall.
ENDOWMENT
Two of our veteran leaders, Fran Doris and Toni Scherzer have agreed to chair an Endowment effort to ensure that the important work of NCJW/Cleveland continues well into the next century. Some of the ways to fund an endowment include legacy bequests and stock transfers as donations.
TRIBUTES
Make a tax deductible tribute in honor or in memory of someone for as little as $10. From this donation you can recognize special occasions with meaning, and support NCJW at the same time.
NOTE CARDS AND TRIBUTE CARDS
NCJW/Cleveland sells beautiful note and tribute cards at the office. Stop by to purchase them. They are a great way to benefit our organization while offering congratulations, condolences, or recognition of special occasions.
I would love to hear from you with fund development-related ideas, suggestions, or questions. You can reach me at
forman4wendie@gmail.com
or 216-469-6228. Thank you!

The committee is also completing a four-week self-esteem session at Beechbrook and will be starting a new session at North Point, a homeless shelter.
Several of our members attended a "Tea for Peace" to meet and talk with Muslim women and men. As a result of this wonderful experience, we have been asked to join a book club to read and discuss the many similarities we discovered in both Muslim and Jewish life. If you would like to join this book club or just learn more about our team's activities, contact Lynn Kleinman at Lekchoral@aol.com. Nancy Levy, Margo Vinney and Gail Sands are organizing this joint program.
We are also learning about GCC's effort with the Cleveland Metropolitan Public Schools to address trauma in the city. Our students are being adversely affected by opiate use in their families, gun violence, deaths of young children through gangs, and abandoned neighborhoods. This program will begin in the fall.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 at Fairmount Temple. Our next meeting is June 14. Join us! For more information, contact

Ohioans for Gun Safety is a new organization that is working to put a ballot initiative for common sense background checks on gun sales on the Ohio ballot. NCJW/Cleveland and Columbus are coalition partners in this effort. The group, which so far has raised almost $15,000, has scheduled 16 fund-raising house parties over the next couple of weeks in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Oberlin. If you would like to host a party or learn more about our efforts, contact
Susan Reis at
sixreis@gmail.com.
