Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Sunday Church
Famous Last Words: Why?
In the earlier years of my ministry I was pastor to a congregation with a large number of shut-ins and nursing home patients. Weekly I'd grab my travel bible and home communion kit to connect with these most precious saints of God who could no longer make it to Sunday church.
There was one woman with whom I spent many hours, named Arlene. Arlene has been gone many years now, but I'll never forget our time together. A severe stroke had robbed her speech of all vocabulary except one word, 'why'.   Month after month she would take my hand, look me in the eyes, and ask over and over and over, "Why?"
If I were to tally up and put in categories all the questions I've been asked in my years of being a pastor, far and away the biggest could be labeled, "Why?" And the list of our 'why' questions, it seems is endless:

  • Why did my _____ have to die?
  • Why do I have cancer?
  • Why did I lose my job (and not my lazy co-worker)?
  • Why can't I stop _____?

In this week's message we turn to a time Jesus asked the Father His, 'why' question:
Why, God, have you abandoned me?   Sunday morning I encourage us to bring our own 'why' questions as we gather at the foot of the cross and dig deeper into this emotional story of our Lord's suffering and death. Preaching theme: "Why?"

Name Tag Sunday
Last month during our Celebration of Serving the question was asked, "We need to learn more names; when can we have another Name Tag Sunday?" Answer: this Sunday!

Card Writing Sunday: March 4
Every week we have a fabulous Card Ministry Team headed up by Bonnie and Noni that sends out prayers of healing, love, and support on behalf of Living Water. Ladies, thank you!! Immediately after worship this Sunday we'll be joining them in a new ministry outreach to U.S. soldiers deployed throughout the world. Throwing up tables, setting out pens and cards Living Water will partner with our friends (via Skype) from Madison Ave. Baptist Church in NYC, writing cards to soldiers.

Living for Jesus!

Chicken Coop Church
What started out as an ordinary week turned out to be anything but. In the midst of school papers, tests and classes our little Jakobe developed an illness that landed us in the hospital for an extended stay. Jakobe's now home, but continued prayers are welcome on this long journey back to full strength. Thanks, everyone! Jesus Loves You! - Pr. Peter
JAM (Jesus And Me)
Little Jammers - Mrs. Ebner
Middle Jammers - Mrs. Harder
Big Jammers - Mrs. Ebner

core
This Wednesday for CORE we're ordering in movie popcorn and screening the film, "Remember the Goal," a compelling story based on 1 Corinthians 10.1, about the real-life issues facing five young girls on their journey to win the school's first-ever State Title.
Parents and friends, welcome!
Wednesday Worship
There are tons of important ways we can prepare our hearts for Easter. At Living Water, one of the most intentional is our weekly community meal & worship. Every Wednesday we're served up a simple supper of soup & sandwiches, followed by Holden Evening Prayer in the Worship Center. This year we have a very special treat: weekly installments from a ficticious family as they struggle with the very real-life issues raised by Jesus and his ministry. Here's how it shakes out:
Soup & Sandwiches: 5:30-6:30pm
Worship: 6:30-7pm
Cards For Soldiers
This Sunday right after worship we'd LOVE to have each and every one of you join us in writing notes of support to our deployed U.S.A. soldiers. We will set up tables, turn on some music and spend a few minutes putting words to our feelings of gratitude; while at the same time connecting via Skype with our friends at Madison Ave. Baptist Church in NYC, who will be joining us in this awesome outreach!
Easy Yoga for Women -
This Sunday!

Easy Yoga for Women is this Sunday. If you're interested, just show up that day in comfy clothes and bring a water bottle. Yoga mats will be provided. This class is designed for beginners, but all levels are welcome to come. Cost is $5 per person and due at the start of class. Julie Emerson of The Tree House will be leading this group. We'll see you there!
Cast & Crew of AMP
Attention cast and crew of A Mother's Passion: We will gather after church (10:30ish) this Sunday to sing through the Passion with the background CD.  Crew members:  If you have any questions for me this will be a great time to catch me! Cast members:  Please remember to bring your word sheets and your staging sheets!  -Janine
New Bible Study Coming:
Run for God's 5K Challenge
Join us in the exciting, new small group for Run for God's 5K Challenge!  Run for God's 5K Challenge is a 12-week Bible study program that allows runners to combine faith and endurance training in a way that helps take people, even those who have never run, through their first 5K.  This group will be part Bible study and part training program. The primary goal is to learn to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ while understanding the parallels of enduring a sport like running and enduring your faith. Check out the sign up sheet on Clipboard Central, or contact Julie Emerson for more info!

Save Your UPC Codes
Luther Bible Camp is collecting "Our Family" brand UPC codes off grocery items.  Throughout 2018 any UPC codes you collect (we do not need the entire label, just the physical UPC code) will be sent to Luther Park and your donations will be turned into money for programs they do on Lake Chetek.  A collection container will be in the back of church.  Thank you for supporting this important resource for both children and adults.
Attention Handymen
Are you handy? Do you have a talent or ability that you would like to share? Are you looking for opportunities to serve others in our community with those talents relating to small projects? If you think that's too many questions - then this is right in your wheelhouse. We are looking for men of all ages and all skill sets who like to get their hands dirty. Don't know how to do anything special- we need backs and bodies too. If you have an interest in serving alongside other men out in our community on (blitz) service projects, then we have something in common and an opportunity for you to get involved! Join us on the ground floor of something new- (so new, there's not even a name for it!)
If you know of someone who could use help, or handy work, but has little for resources or ability, we'd like to meet them and take a look!
Please contact Ike Stouffer at 1-920-716-9127 [email protected]
or Bryan Wood at 715-699-2937 [email protected]

Meet the Living Water Family of the Week
Names: Jill & Ned Lenhart, Grace, Clara & Thea
Something interesting about our household:
Daughter Grace teaches math in an alternative high school for pregnant and parenting teens in the Denver, CO public school system;  daughter Clara is finishing up college in St. Paul, exploring how to continue pursuing her passion for working with animals;  Thea is our Special Olympics star, whose life is filled with music, dancing, and making people smile.
How we became connected to Living Water:
In July of 2008, Mike Joosten called and invited Ned to preach at a morning worship service, held at the Celebration Station in Cameron.
