Cumberland's brand in action across the area

You would have already seen Cumberland's new brand popping up in the last few
months, such as on your rates notice and at parks and facilities.  The recently opened Auburn Ruth Everuss  Aquatic Centre was one of the first  buildings to bear the new brand as you can see it in picture below.

The roll out is continuing so keep an eye out for the new colours on welcome signs at the main entry points to the area and on local community centres and libraries. 

Remember to send through feedback on everything Council does, whether it be the brand or anything else, at the contact us page of the Cumberland website.

Know your history: Prospect Hill Reconciliation
 
Since 2010, under the former Holroyd City Council and now under Cumberland Council, commemorations have been held to mark the first recorded act of reconciliation between Darug land owners and European settlers . Do you know the remarkable story behind this event in your own backyard? 
 
As part of National Reconciliation Week Jane Elias, Local Studies Librarian and author of 'Pictorial History Holroyd',  spoke with Mornings on ABC Radio about the event's national significance. Learn more here.

Prospect Hill can arguably claim to be the birthplace of the Reconciliation Movement due to the events of 1805.  
Aquatic Centre on track for five star safety rating

The Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre has been awarded a Safety Score of 90%  by the independent safety auditor Royal Life. With the renovated Centre only two months old, the score puts the facility on track for a five star safety rating.  
 
The fantastic result is just another reason to get down to the Aquatic Centre. Foundation memberships are still available for a limited time. For more info click here.

The independent financial and probity report investigated relationships between former Council officials and attendees of the golf day.

Merrylands CBD revitalisation project was put on hold...
Stormwater works and some public domain improvements will go ahead while a strategic approach to the project is developed. Learn more
 
The Local Representative Committee was ceased effective 30 May 2017...
The contribution of all committee members was recognised. 
 
The Code of Conduct and a range of supporting policies were put on public exhibition...
Code of Conduct, Code of Meeting Practice, Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy, Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy, Gifts and Benefits Policy, Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy, Public Interest Disclosures Policy,  Statement of Business Ethics will be on exhibition for 28 days.
 
The minimum and maximum fees for Mayors and Councillors were exhibited...
Public consultation will be undertaken for 28 days to determine the appropriate amount.

The Cumberland Youth Strategy and Cumberland Disability Action Plan were adopted...

The proposed leasing of Hyland Reserve, Greystanes will not be progressed...
A review of uses for the site will be undertaken.
