New STAAR Report Cards Coming in June

Parents will be able to access their students' STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) results beginning June 13. This year's report will feature an easy-to-read confidential student report (CSR) that includes links to a web page with item-level analysis for each question on the STAAR, informational videos and additional resources.

The new CSRs will be available online beginning June 13 for the End-of-Course Exams and online June 30 for the 3rd-8th grade STAAR test.

In addition, the State of Texas has updated the labels for the STAAR academic performance standards. The table below provides the change from the old performance labels to the new performance labels.

Previous Standard Level New Standard Level
Level I Does Not Meet Grade Level
Level II (current passing standard) Approaches Grade Level
Level II Final Meets Grade Level
Level III Advanced Masters Grade Level

The goal of the new reports is to create a reader-friendly report on student progress, specifically highlighting growth and improvement as much as proficiency. This new report, entitled the STAAR Report Card, will include:
  • Growth and progress information
  • A summer reading list
  • The learner's Lexile levels and trend data
  • Resources for parents
  • Possible questions for parents to ask school staff
