March 1 ushered in our community-wide Prevent Hunger campaign. The good news is that all kinds of good folks - from schools, faith communities, local businesses, youth and civic and community groups - are stepping up in creative, fun and generous ways to jump-start the campaign.
Heartfelt thanks to Sears Imported Autos and the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring a happy hour mixer featuring live music and a food drive at 13500 Wayzata Boulevard on Thursday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m.
And to McCormick's for conducting a St. Paddy's Day Raffle on a trip to Ireland to benefit the campaign. Tickets are available at McCormick's (331 Broadway Ave. S. in Wayzata) until March 17.
And to a long list of schools, faith communities and scout troops who are revving up kids, neighborhoods and congregants.
Support of the Prevent Hunger Campaign, in addition to making healthy and culturally appropriate food choices available to families and kids of our community, makes access to holistic family support and employment services that help breadwinners find living wage jobs. It's what this community is so good at - staying with folks when the going gets tough in all the ways that matter.

THE PREVENT HUNGER CAMPAIGN, MARCH 1-31
An easy way to get friends, families and kids fired up to help!
Did you know that faith communities, school groups, scout troops, local businesses and YOU are the heart and soul behind the Prevent Hunger campaign? Interfaith Outreach can't do what we do without your participation in this annual effort to address - and
prevent - hunger right here in the western suburbs.
The campaign kicked off March 1, with a goal of raising $200,000 and collecting 100,000 pounds of food shelf donations before March 31. But don't wait - find your fun and meaningful way to get involved!

Every $1 donated allows us to source $9 worth of food and household items through our food partners.

Food donations are accepted from Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at 1605 County Road 101 N in Plymouth. Schedule large donations drop-offs by calling 763-489-7530.

Sears Imported Autos and the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce invite you to a creative mixer with a philanthropic twist. Enjoy a complimentary catered happy hour featuring live music and a Donation Creation - a food drive that is its own party game.
$20 suggested donation at the door, raffle prizes to win items and on-site donations benefit Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners' Prevent Hunger campaign. For every $1 donated to the Prevent Hunger campaign, we can source $9 worth of food through food partners.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS SPEAKER SERIES

Interfaith Outreach, 1605 County Road 101 N, Plymouth
Join us for the third in the Great Expectations Speaker Series sponsored by Wayzata and Orono School Districts and Interfaith Outreach. Ann Masten, Ph.D., Regents Professor of Child Development at the University of Minnesota and author of Ordinary Magic: Nurturing Resilience in Children, will share her research on this topic.
Professor Masten will discuss what resilience is and what we have learned from research on young people who overcome disadvantage or adversity to succeed in life.
She will highlight the origins and findings from studies of resilience, hers and others, with a focus on opportunities for families, schools and communities to foster positive development and resilience in children and society.
A light breakfast will be served. The event is free, but please RSVP.
