Victory and next steps in Small Area FMR case : Now that the case of Open Communities Alliance v. Carson is concluded (with a stipulated judgment for the plaintiffs entered on February 16 and a new April 1 implementation date set by HUD), we are turning our attention to monitoring compliance with the new rule, to make sure that public housing authorities in the metropolitan areas covered by the rule are taking full advantage of the rule's provision to open up new opportunities for voucher families, and to protect existing tenants.  We will be working closely with the National Housing Law Project and local legal services lawyers and fair housing advocates to track implementation of the rule over the next 6-12 months.
