Not only did the week of camp bring sunshine, it brought Mia.
From picnics near the lake to helping her younger cabin mates, Mia always has a bright, contagious smile on her face.
When asked what her secret was, she said "well when you're super excited for something, it just gives you energy!"
Aside from the mud pit and rock climbing wall, Mia's favorite thing at camp are her counselors.
"My leaders are so nice," Mia said. "Every time I come here I have girl leaders and it's so fun. They're my friends."
She loves being able to come to camp and hang out with the girls in her cabin for the week.
"We talk a lot and get to know each other," she said.
This is Mia's fourth year at camp. After she graduates high school in two years, she hopes to become a cabin counselor. She wants to make a difference in others' lives, just as camp has made a difference in hers.

Over 100 guests gathered to celebrate the opening of the new Berglund Center at Camp Eden Wood in Eden Prairie, MN. The building will allow True Friends to serve more individuals through a variety of services including, respite, camping and other programs.

Ventures Travel recently facilitated a custom trip to Japan including a special
visit to the Fushimi Inari Shrine. |
Ventures Travel recently facilitated a custom trip to the farthest destination yet - Japan! This was a dream trip for a very special traveler. Her dream trip started in Osaka, Japan where she visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine featured in the movie
Memoirs of a Geisha.
She ate authentic Japanese Ramen and Sukiyaki among other delicious meals, then proceeded north to Owakudani for stunning views of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi.
The trip concluded with several days spent in Tokyo touring the Pokemon Mega Center and eating at the iconic Robot Restaurant.
Ventures Travel has recently facilitated other custom trips including a visit to Maui, a Disney Cruise and a trip to New York City.
Ventures Travel strives to provide life-changing experiences on each vacation, but the custom travel program gives a unique opportunity to provide a high-level of person-centered care to the individuals we serve.

Put your game face on and come out and join us at our annual golf fundraiser event at Oakview Golf Course in Freeborn, MN. A 4-person, best-shot golf tournament will begin at 11 a.m. A $55 entry fee will include golf registration, lunch and a beverage.
