President's Corner

Dear Kiwanis Club of Omaha,

K2B REMINDER - For lunch this Friday, we have an excellent K2B scheduled at Papillion Manor, hosted by one of our newer members, Brandon Herring! Please RSVP as we need a head count for the lunches. Attendance is looking a little lower than we anticipated so please make every effort you can to make this luncheon a priority. Let's take full advantage of the opportunity we've been given to tour the facilities and learn more about Vetter Health Services, which has been serving the Omaha community for over 40 years.

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES - Take the day off and watch Sam Houston State vs. Florida State to find out who we will be hosting in the CWS tournament (or just have Twitter, ESPN, etc. keep you updated with highlights and scores along the way). Once the final teams are announced and the schedule is set in stone, we will know which date our welcome party at the lake house will take place. Right now, it looks like the event will be Saturday, June 17th but watch for updates and an official invitation later this week. Also, there's still time to get GA tickets through our club. Please contact Brandon Herring with Papillion Manor at (402) 339-7700 or Nick Schultze with Vesta Voluntary at (402) 884-0605 to purchase tickets or pick some up for your office, friends or family members.

100 BY 100 - As you all know, we are approaching our 100th anniversary in January 2019. We started the year strong with several new members and we still have momentum heading into the summer months. Please keep inviting new faces to our meetings and spreading the word about who we are and what we do. The more hearts, hands, and minds we have, the easier it will be to expand our impact as we continue to serve the world one child and one community at a time.

LAST MEETING

"Keeping Pace with Technology"
At our last meeting, we welcomed Lynne Sangimino, VP and Omaha Market Leader of Cox Communications of Greater Omaha. Ms. Sangimino gave us a detailed view of Cox. The Cox brand not only provides television, internet and phone service through Cox Communications, they also have Cox Enterprises, Cox Media Group and Cox Automotive (they own Kelly Blue Book!). We heard from Ms. Sangimino about the ever increasing needs for great broadband and speed. She said that internet data usage increases by 50% every year and the average household will soon have 50 devices connected to the internet.
