A New Look for the Fashion District
The Fashion District launched a new logo and brand identity inspired by the neighborhood's architecture, colors and community. The new brand seeks to incorporate the district's distinct offerings under five brand pillars that highlight the historic, eclectic, inviting, connected, and fashionable nature of the area. Our goal is to create an inclusive brand that speaks to all the different industries, businesses, and people who shop, work, and live in the Fashion District.

Homelessness Advocacy Update
BID staff continues to work with City Council District 14 and the City to address homelessness and related issues in the Fashion District. Most recently the BID supported Councilmember Huizar's motion to increase funds to the Sanitation Department for encampment cleanup crews and give proportionate services based on need. The BID makes 100 calls a week to 311 regarding encampment issues affecting day-to-day business. See this article for details and a quote from Executive Director, Rena Leddy's testimony here.

At the Council's Homeless & Poverty Committee meeting, the BID advocated in favor of a motion by Councilmember Huizar to find City of LA property for temporary emergency shelter for Skid Row, similar to the approved area at El Pueblo. Read more at  lat.ms/2mC4vCm

All 15 Councilmembers committed to building 222 units of homeless housing in each of their districts. This pledge by the Council demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that any additional housing is dispersed throughout the city and not just located in downtown. It would also put the city on track to reach its goal of 10,000 units of permanent supportive housing in a decade. Details here.
