Dealing with a Slow Processing Speed in Our Fast Paced World

An Evening with Dr. Ellen Braaten
Thursday, March 8 at 6 pm in the
 HS Commons

Learn to Boost Your Child's Ability to:
  • Perform Better in School
  • Keep Pace with Friends and Family
  • Maintain Health Self-Esteem
Do you find yourself constantly asking your child to "pick up the pace?" Does he/she seem to take longer than others to get stuff done -- whether completing homework, responding when spoken to, or getting dressed in the morning?

STEM School Highlands Ranch is fortunate that  Dr. Ellen Braaten is joining us as part of her pro-bono work for an evening presentation, including questions and answers with our STEM community. Dr. Braaten is a Harvard Psychologist and well-known author who has worked with thousands of kids and teens who struggle with an area of cognitive functioning called "processing speed."

She will talk to parents and students about how to obtain the needed support, what to ex pect from a professional evaluation and how you can make daily routines more efficient while promoting your child's social and emotional well-being . STEM is fortunate that Dr. Braaten joining us as part of her pro-bono work. Reserve your seat and learn more about the evening here.

Congratulations Spartans of the Month!

The "Spartans of the Month" recognition is quite the accomplishment for our amazing Elementary students, who are honored for demonstrating the STEM  formula for character. Below are the media-approved students that we want to honor and congratulate!

Jump Rope for Heart

On March 6th we'll be kicking off STEM's participation in Jump Rope for Heart by the American Heart Association. This is a free program to teach students about different ways to keep their hearts healthy.

Elementary students will learn how physical activity, foods, and water affect their health. This program includes an optional fundraiser for the American Heart Association so they can continue to bring programs to schools. More info will be sent home with students this Friday. Mr. Broll is excited to bring this program to STEM and can't wait to see how much students learn about being heart healthy.
