Is there a sample ballot online for the Election on April 3?

When and where can I drop off medications to the Police Department? Is there a special day or is it ongoing?

I've started spring cleaning and have materials that are hazardous. Where can I take hazardous waste?

Have a question?  The phone number to Village Hall is 414-962-6690.

  • WFB Library Tea Time Book Club 12:00noon
Our Tea Time Book Club meets once a month and is led by Library Director Nyama Reed. This month we're reading  The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin .
It's 1969 in New York City's Lower East Side, and word has spread of the arrival of a mystical woman, a traveling psychic who claims to be able to tell anyone the day they will die. The Gold children--four adolescents on the cusp of self-awareness--sneak out to hear their fortunes. Their prophecies inform their next five decades. Golden-boy Simon escapes to the West Coast, searching for love in '80s San Francisco; dreamy Klara becomes a Las Vegas magician, obsessed with blurring reality and fantasy; eldest son Daniel seeks security as an army doctor post-9/11, hoping to control fate; and bookish Varya throws herself into longevity research, where she tests the boundary between science and immortality. The Immortalists probes the line between destiny and choice, reality and illusion, this world and the next. It is a deeply moving testament to the power of story, the nature of belief, and the unrelenting pull of familial bonds.

  • Holy Family School Players present: Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR., 7:00pm, Holy Family School, 4849 N. Wildwood Ave. Tickets available at the door ($10 adults, $5 kids/seniors) or call 414.332.8175 to reserve.

2/13/18 Note about the Service Line Warranties of America Letter received by many residents of the Village:

If you have received a letter from Service Line Warranties of America regarding insuring your water service line, please be aware that this is not a Village-sanctioned communication. The Village of Whitefish Bay cannot recommend any particular coverage and pursuing this coverage is at your own discretion and risk. Please note that out of the Village's 4,500 water service lines, the Village averages 20 leaks per year. If the leak is on the Village's side, we repair our portion at no cost to you . Trash

Residential Trash and Recycling Collection Program  Changes Begin May of 2018

The Final Deadline to pre-purchase an additional cart or switch to 65 gallon cart was Friday, March 9. You may still purchase an additional cart once the program begins, but there may be a short delay. If you mail in payment or pay in person, your cart will be ordered with the next cycle and will be delivered as soon as possible after the start of the program.

The Village Website Page for Trash and Recycling is here:

Trash and Recycling Program Hotline:  414-962-6690 Ext.495,  Email:  j.heyden@wfbvillage.org

The new, actual sample carts will be placed in the Whitefish Bay Library Lobby this week.

New Program Cart Placement:
  • Ideally, carts will be placed along the parkway or on the carriage walk within three feet of the street, oriented with (closed) lids opening to street
  • In order for the automated arm to reach each cart, a minimum of three feet between each cart is best.
  • No extra items on or near the carts will be picked up with the regular pickup.
  • New pickup schedules will be provided along with the new cart upon delivery. Refuse pickup will remain weekly, and Recycling will increase to every other week when the program begins.
  • Special pickups for other items will still be available - that process for pickup will be determined.
Village Hall and Police Department operations will be shared with DPW at their location at 155 W Fairmount Ave at Lydell until Fall 2018. Customer Service Window hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday - Friday.

March is National Nutrition Month and the theme for 2018 is "Go Further with Food." Preparing your foods to go further by planning meals and snacks in advance can help to reduce food loss and waste. Whether it's starting the day off right with a healthy breakfast or fueling before an athletic event, the foods you choose can make a real difference. This year's theme for National Nutrition Month encourages us to achieve the numerous benefits healthy eating habits offer, but it also urges us to find ways to cut back on food waste. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health. Here are some tips to consider:
  1. Include a variety of healthful foods from all of the food groups on a regular basis.
  2. Consider the foods you have on hand before buying more at the store.
  3. Buy only the amount that can be eaten or frozen within a few days and plan ways to use leftovers later in the week.
  4. Be mindful of portion sizes. Eat and drink the amount that's right for you, as MyPlate encourages us to do.
  5. Find activities that you enjoy and be physically active most days of the week.
  6. Realize the benefits of healthy eating by consulting with a registered dietitian nutritionist. RDNs can provide sound, easy-to-follow personalized nutrition advice to meet your lifestyle, preferences and health-related needs.

dropoffmedications

Medication Drop Off Information

The Police Department is Not accepting Medication Drop Off in the Temporary Location at 155 W. Fairmount Ave., or at Recycle Day in the Bay on Saturday, May 5.  However, they will be accepted for one day on Saturday, April 28, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Whitefish Bay will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28th. Items will be accepted from 10 am - 2 pm at the Temporary Village Hall/PD location, 155 W. Fairmount Ave, Whitefish Bay. No drop offs will be accepted any other time.

The temporary facility we are in does not allow for storage of the items that we collect that day and in the past the location and volume of people offered us little control of what we accepted.  We ended up with syringes and other items that were very hard to dispose of.
