Auto industry executives attend semi-annual External Advisory Board Meeting

On Friday, March 31, 2017, numerous industry and government executives and campus partners attended The Ohio State Center for Automotive Research's (CAR) semiannual External Advisory Board meeting.

The meeting opened with a presentation on the past, present and future of CAR by Giorgio Rizzoni, director, Center for Automotive Research. Rizzoni shared CAR’s vision in 2012, reported on the Centers current state and the plan for the next 5 years.

Kasich announcement at CAR

State funding to fuel expansion of autonomous vehicle R&D

The path toward a safe and smart autonomous car hit the fast lane Thursday with a $45 million commitment to expand The Ohio State University-affiliated Transportation Research Center. The funds will support research and innovation for autonomous – or driverless – vehicles.

President Michael V. Drake announced the funding with Gov. John Kasich at an event at Ohio State’s Center for Automotive Research. Ohio State will contribute $25 million to TRC, with an additional $20 million coming from the state.
