Hart House Mentorship
The Hart House Mentorship Program began as a pilot in 2016 to match graduate students and mature, part-time undergraduates with mentors who could help them define and pursue their goals, and bridge the gap between life inside and outside the University. Ashleigh Powell is manager of Sharing Dance, a partnership between Hart House and Canada's National Ballet School to acknowledge the 150th anniversary of Confederation. In part, Ashleigh credits her co-curricular interests with leading her to a full and meaningful career in dance. But Hart House is where she learned the difference between choreographing for dance and choreographing for theatre. More

A Hart House Memory
Alumnus, Michael Kaplan remembers how his time spent at Hart House helped him discover what he wanted to do with his life.

"One of my favourite places in the world was on the big red leather chairs in front of the [Hart House] library fireplace. I was on the Caledon Farm Committee for a couple of years and I had the great honour of being in two plays with Bob Gill as director in the Hart House Theatre...Hart House was a major influence on [me] and I am glad to be able to help support it now." With its almost century-long history, Hart House has inspired special memories for generations of students, staff, faculty and others. If you have a special memory that you would like to share with Quarterly readers, contact Andrea Blackler at [email protected].
