Do You Know a Healthcare Game Changer?
Combating HIV/AIDS Across South Florida,  Campbell Foundation Awards Grants to UM, FIU and Broward Health
Education, prevention and cure research. These are the cornerstones of The Campbell Foundation's mission to eradicate HIV and AIDS in our lifetime.

Because South Florida is the epicenter for new HIV cases, the Fort Lauderdale-based nonprofit is providing $25,000 grants to scientists at the University of Miami, Florida International University and Broward Health, who are focused on these critical research areas.

"These fast-track grants to South Florida-based researchers show our Board of Directors' ongoing commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS right here in our own backyard," said Campbell Foundation Trustee Bill Venuti. "While many of our research funding goes outside of Florida, there are labs right here conducting research projects that may have a deep, lasting impact on reducing HIV, not only in South Florida, the epicenter for new HIV infections, but around the world."

Modernizing Medicine Announces Agreement with CoverMyMeds for Electronic Prior Authorization
SPONSOR
CoverMyMeds, a leader in electronic prior authorization (ePA) solutions, and Boca Raton based Modernizing Medicine, a specialty-specific health IT leader, recently announced an agreement to bring electronic prior authorization (ePA) functionality to the over 7,500 providers using EMA, the award winning electronic health record (EHR) system in Modernizing Medicine's suite of services.

Prior authorization (PA) is the formulary management process of requiring pre-approval for certain prescribed medications that impacts more than 185 million prescriptions each year. Of those, 75 million prescriptions are abandoned, in part due to the burdensome PA process. Historically, PA requests have been completed through paper forms, faxes and phone calls among medical practices, pharmacies and insurance companies. Electronic prior authorization transforms the PA workflow into an electronic process that can minimize prescription abandonment and administrative waste.

Modernizing Medicine is the latest EHR vendor to work with CoverMyMeds for electronic prior authorization and, according to the ePA National Adoption Scorecard, joins 73 percent of EHR and E-Prescribing vendors representing the majority of the market share who are currently committed to implementing ePA.
