This Week in the
Local Libations Tent:
The Colony Meadery

We thought it fitting to feature a meadery for June Bee Jamboree! For those not familiar with mead, it's an ancient fermented beverage made with honey and commonly referenced in Norse mythology.

At Colony Meadery they have refined the fermentation process to produce elegant beverages that can be enjoyed alone or paired with food. Like wine, their meads range from dry through dessert. The dry meads showcase the subtle flavors and aromas of the type of honey used to make the mead. Dessert meads are typically flavored with other ingredients to make a unique beverage experience.
The Colony Meadery's mission is to produce the boldest and most innovative meads in the world!

Stop by and give mead a try. The Colony Meadery now offers three great varieties of Mead by the can: Lemon Laws, Tea Tax and Limey the Ginger!

Peace Tree Farm

Introducing Peace Tree Farm's Beeloved plant series: A collection of hardy perennials and reseeding annuals that provide an excellent season-long forage source for bees and other pollinators , all while performing reliably and beautifully in the garden.  Bees are an essential part of our ecosystem, pollinating both natural and cultivated flora. Beeloved plants are grown without harmful chemicals or GMOs, ensuring they are safe for bees, wildlife, your family, and YOU!

Bee habitats are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and are disappearing at an alarming rate due in large part to development and pervasive use of harmful chemical sprays in landscaping and agriculture.
You can make your garden a bee-haven:
  • Provide a steady supply of nectar sources. Select plants with diverse heights, bloom colors, and flowering times.
  • Avoid pesticides and herbicides. Even "natural" products can be harmful to bees and pollinators.
  • Create a safe habitat for native pollinators- leave areas undisturbed, include water sources, and add landscape features for nesting sites.

*FUN FACT- Dandelions are among the first flowers to bloom in spring and are one of the first 'meals' available to the bees. Embrace these vital, lovely, and edible plants. The bees depend on them so put down that sprayer!!!

Greenmouth Treats
Ice Cream you can Feel Good About!

The Greenmouth gang is excited for the first June Bee Jamboree! In honor of the event they have whipped up a batch of their popular Lavender Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (as always dairy free) and will be topping it with a Lavender Honey! Their honey is proudly, locally sourced from Tassot Apiaries. There's more on the menu too. Look for Mexican Chocolate, Vanilla bean, and Strawberry Rye available in a cup or cone, along with a variety of half pints. So bring your coolers and stock up for the hot weather that has finally arrived. And as always Greenmouth will be serving fresh, maple syrup-sweetened lemonade and delicious date balls - the perfect market treat!

They'll have their first sour cherries of the season tomorrow, along with a ton of Ebony Pearl sweet cherries - they've got a great cherry crop this year! They are picking lots of zucchini, cauliflower, and broccoli, but it's your last chance for asparagus and rhubarb!

But the big news was texted to me at 8pm last night. Ben Scholl reported that there is a very good chance that they could be picking peaches today! That's right, the Rich MAE peaches are coming on really strong this year and could be ready for market day.
