Thank You Friends of Longview EPC!

|
In all my life I had never dreamed of such a blessed day as you provided for me last Sunday [June 11].
Worshipping together with such a large portion of my own family, the pictures (
click here to see slideshow), the flowers, the cake and the cookies, and the kind and loving things that were said made it a day among days for me. Words cannot express the love I have for our wonderful church and you beautiful people who make it so very dear. Let’s keep in touch.
My new address is: Dorothy Rawlins
13923 FM2710, Apt 307, Lindale TX 75771
My new phone number is available at the church office.
With great love for the staff, the members, and the friends of Longview EPC,
Dotty Rawlins

A Note about Missionaries
|
|
Dear Longview EPC Congregation from Jeanneen Jewell,
We have a wonderful, loving congregation, and we are able to support many church members and friends of the church on their mission trips as well as missionaries in the field as their life’s calling. Several weeks ago, we were privileged to have two of those dedicated missionaries speak during our church school time about their experiences in the Far East where they are constantly aware of the tenuous circumstances under which they witness to God’s love for us all. Sunday July 2 - 1st Sunday Communion & Patriotic Potluck
|
|
On Sunday, July 2, worship with the Lord’s Supper and then join us for a Patriotic Potluck Luncheon immediately following worship service. Please bring side dishes to complement hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the church—baked beans, potato salad, chips, etc. If you wish to bring a dessert, we are asking for pies and cakes to stay with our Patriotic theme (apple pie, cherry pie, blueberry dessert, etc.). All are welcome to join!

Parking Lot Sealing & Re-striping
During the coming week (June 26-30), weather permitting, our parking lot will be sealed and re-striped. This means you will need to park in The Summit Club parking lot if you have business in the church office or other buildings during the week. Thank you for your patience during this project to improve and maintain our location. It should be completed this week for use next Sunday.

|
Our next new member class will be held at a later date to be announced. Unforeseen circumstances led to the class scheduled for June 18 being cancelled.
Stay tuned for updates.

Newgate & House of Hope Needs
Socks
We are in need of socks. Walking is the mode of transportation for most of our community members. They walk to the mission, to work, to the grocery store, and to where they stay at night. A pair of socks is our most requested item. The next time you are at the store, please consider purchasing a pair to donate!
People can bring their socks to Newgate or House of Hope or if you drop some by the church office we will deliver them.
"This simple act will literally last for MILES!!!"

Buckner Needs Volunteers!
|
The Buckner Family Hope Center is looking for volunteers that are wanting to make a regular commitment engaging with our English as a Second Language students. Teaching ESL two times a week is a great way to invest in the women’s lives who are committed and eager to learn a new language. There is not a requirement for past teaching experience, or knowing Spanish. Some of the best ESL teachers don’t speak the same language, so don’t be hesitant of your own language skills! We are offering an ESL training for all volunteers in August to help our teachers gain more knowledge in how to help our clients better.
We have 80 students taking classes on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs from 8:30-11 am and 11:30-2 pm. We would like to add another class to accommodate 70 more students off a waiting list. Buckner FHC is looking for 3 teachers. We are needing one teacher for a Monday/Wednesday class and two teachers for a Tuesday/Thursday class.
If you are interested, please contact the Church Office.
