Southern Paramedic Service/Southern Care Ambulance
2ND Quarter SUMMER newsletter - we've been supporting the community!

Gary Padget, CEO
CEO's Message

We did it!  Southern Paramedic Services/ Southern Care Ambulance received national ambulance accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services for our companies' compliance with national standards of excellence. Thanks to the diligence, innovation and dedication of our management team and employees,
Southern is one of only 180 ambulance services in the country to successfully complete the voluntary review process which included completion of a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services (EMS).

The Commission is a non-profit organization which was established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America's medical transportation system. The primary focus of the Commission's standards is high-quality patient care.  This is accomplished by establishing national standards which not only address the delivery of patient care, but also the ambulance service's total operation and its relationships with other agencies, the general public, and the medical community.  The Commission's standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements.

With the CAAS accreditation achievement, Southern Paramedic Service and Southern Care Ambulance become only the fourth ambulance service to be currently CAAS accredited in the state of Arkansas. We will continue to strive to always do our best for our patients and community.

All the while we have been working towards achieving national accreditation, we have not stopped our attention to the 9-1-1 business at hand; responding to a robust call volume in all our service areas and adding new equipment, technology and the education programs that go along with stepping up our performance. We have also been participating and supporting numerous community and industry events and causes.  In particular, we have recently celebrated national EMS Week under the American College of EMS Physicians (ACEP) theme of EMS Strong; Always in Service. I couldn't be more impressed with our EMS professionals and the compassion and competence they offer our patients.  We were proud participants in the State's Parade of Lights in Little Rock and also broadcast a TV Public Safety Announcement (PSA) encouraging everyone to minimize driving distractions.

Southern Paramedic Service/ Southern Care Ambulance have a lot to celebrate as we enter into a busy summer.  We hope you will all join with us in celebrating the season by safely enjoying all Arkansas' recreational venues have to offer.

Southern Paramedic Services Sponsors Wynne's Mucka Mania event

Southern Paramedic Service offered its special event medical standby services for Wynne's sixth annual Mucka Mania 5k/10k run on June 3rd, 2017. The course was challenging for those running through Wynne, the "City with a Grin!" and kept standby crews busy rehydrating runners and spectators alike as well as offering first aid.

The Muckas Running Club held their 6th Annual 5k walk/run and 10k race which is a challenging course set on the vicious streets of Wynne Arkansas. Southern Ambulance is one of the proud sponsors of this event along with providing an ambulance for standby. There were two runners that represented Southern Ambulance at this event and want to say congratulations to Kortnie Fallon and her fiancée Jarret Secrease for both running in the 5k with both having a time of 32:24. Kortnie placed 1st in her division and Jarrett placed 1st in his and 3rd man over all.

Enjoy Summer Grilling
With Safety in Mind.
The American Red Cross says

Every year people in this country are injured while using backyard charcoal or gas grills. Follow these steps to safely cook up treats for the backyard barbecue:
  • Always supervise a barbecue grill when in use.
  • Never grill indoors - not in your house, camper, tent, or any enclosed area.
  • Make sure everyone, including the pets, stays away from the grill.
  • Keep the grill out in the open, away from the house, the deck, tree branches, or anything that could catch fire.
  • Use the long-handled tools especially made for cooking on the grill to keep the chef safe.
  • Never add charcoal starter fluid when coals have already been ignited.
  • Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using grills."
