Taking Root
Taking Root is a collaborative, broad-based campaign to address the current historic loss of our region's tree canopy by planting trees, better managing our local forests, promoting the many benefits of healthy trees, and fostering a sense of stewardship among individuals and communities.

With a goal to plant 2 million trees by 2020 (a tree for everyone in the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Region), Taking Root has started a crowd-sourcing campaign to raise money to reach their goal. To learn more or to donate, visit their campaign website here.

Census 2020-LUCA
Census 2020 is around the corner, Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) is an opportunity for state and local governments to review and add additional residential address information for their jurisdiction. It is important to report changes like housing units, boundary changes (annexation), or road updates so that the Decennial Census is as close to accurate as possible. Population counts translate into representation in respect to Congress.

LUCA invitations and registration materials will be out in July, training workshops begin in October, and the deadline for registration is December 15, 2017.

Jurisdictions can designate Hamilton County Planning + Development as their official LUCA partner if the county is already assigning their addresses. Contact Steve Johns with questions.
(513) 946-4455 steve.johns@hamilton-co.org

For more information about LUCA visit the Census website  here.
