Announcing the 2017 Golden Educators
For the third year in a row, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have partnered with Golden Artist Colors to offer our educators the Golden Educators Residency, a two-week artists’ residency in upstate New York! Three educators were chosen for this residency, and it is our honor to announce this year’s residents. Meet the residents.

NOW.AFTER is a Group Exhibition presented by the Alumni Council of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Art and writing from Alumni Council members are on exhibit at FRONT art space in New York City. The works will be on display until July 1. Learn more.


Meet the 2017 Gedenk Award for
Tolerance Recipients

The Gedenk Award for Tolerance is given to students whose works examine their personal role in cultivating tolerance. Through our partnership with the Gedenk Movement, six students were recognized for their works reflecting on the importance of increasing tolerance. Meet the recipients.

Announcing the 2017 Best-in-Grade Awardees
The Scholastic Awards partner with Bloomberg Philanthropies to present the Best-in-Grade Award, a special award given to creative students in grades 7–12. Two writers and two artists in each grade level are selected for this award, and all students who submit to the Scholastic Awards are eligible for this special recognition. Meet the Best-in-Grade recipients.

2017 National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall
On June 8, 2017, hundreds of students, educators, and their guests filled Carnegie Hall for our annual National Ceremony. Special guests Amy Schumer, Michelle Obama, Ellie Kemper, Paul Chan, and Allison Williams addressed the 2017 National Medalists, their families, and educators. Watch the Ceremony.
