President's Message

Dr. Greg O'Leary
In the last two years we've been using "A Great Place To Be" in our promotional materials.   Although our senior students enjoy reminding me of this tagline, they all praise this place for what it has done for them.  Fortunately, we are blessed with great teachers and staff, kind and supportive parents and generous alumni and benefactors who continue to embrace our mission.  These are all graces given to us each day and overwhelmingly contribute to making St. Bon's the community that it is.

At the heart of St. Bon's is Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of being a "Man for and with Others."
Mrs. Annette Mallay
Our gradua te leave here in the sure knowledge that each of them are  equipped with the values necessary to contribute positively as global citizens.  The College  has had a splendid year of academics and extra-curricular activities and accomplishments.

This year, Principal, Dr. Greg O'Leary is leaving us after serving here for five years.  I offer our best wishes to him for health and happiness as he pursues new opportunities and thank him sincerely for his contribution to St. Bon's.  I am delighted to welcome Mrs. Annette Mallay to the Principalship which begins on July 1st.  She will provide innovative and dynamic academic leadership for our talented team of educators.

I express thanks to our exceptional faculty and staff.   I believe they live the Jesuit ideal of seeking the "Magis," the greater, for the glory of God Our Father.   I pray that all our students and their families continue to be filled with Grace and that each of us continue to receive God's abundant blessings.  Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

A Great Place To Be.

President
MAGIS Magazine
At the Annual General Meeting of our members on June 5, we unveiled the inaugural publication of St. Bonaventure's College MAGIS magazine.

This bi-annual publication will explore how we fulfill the mission of Jesuit, Catholic education, by seeking the Magis as we strive to form within our portals, "Men and Women for and with Others."  We are so proud of the many innovative and creative initiatives underway at St. Bon's, supported by a dynamic group of educators and supported by an amazing staff.  MAGIS becomes another means to get the good news out to the public on the magic happening here.

Why did we select the name MAGIS for this publication?  Magis is a Latin word for "the greater."  This word is synonymous with the Society of Jesus and Saint Ignatius Loyola, their founder.  It is related
Unveiling of our new magazine with  Krista Cardwell -Editor, Barbara Mason - Board Chair, Annette Mallay - Assistant Principal &  Tom McGrath - President

to Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, a Latin phrase meaning "for the greater glory of God." Magis refers to the philosophy of doing more, for Christ, and therefore doing more for others. It is an expression of an aspiration and inspiration. It relates to forming the ideal society centered on Jesus Christ.

So MAGIS will be our name and it will be our unwavering goal in our personal formation and growth.

A copy of the magazine has been sent home today with the youngest in each family today. We hope you enjoy this magazine and don't hesitate to share it with others.
