Boston Smoked Fish was founded in June 2013 by two former law school students, attorneys and seafood lovers- Matt and Chris. They renovated an old barn in the Boston suburbs to meet FDA seafood processing guidelines w/ the goal in mind to produce the highest quality smoked fish available by using sustainably harvested fish, locally sourced ingredients and all natural preparation.

"Frankly, we don't know how (nor care to know how) to make our products any other way than  by using all natural ingredients and processes. I started this company in a backyard using the same techniques and ingredients any other home hobbyist would use. I've taken the same methods & developed a company that can scale without sacrificing integrity. Unlike some of our competitors, we use no preservatives or any nitrites to extend shelf life. We depend on the proper balance of salt and dry time to preserve our fish. Additionally, we also smoke our fish using all - natural wood. We don't take any short cuts. "
