. . . In several ways, which I'll explain in a moment.
I have to begin with an expression of gratitude. I am bowled over by the generosity of a faithful donor, who recently offered us a spring-into-summer matching grant of $40,000.
He will double any contribution up to that amount from now until July 21st!
What a way to help us move forward, especially as we are actually moving! Yes, we will have a new address this summer. It involves downsizing our space, but also our rent, which will save us precious resources in the years ahead. It's a safe and well-maintained building, and it will be an invigorating fresh start.
So; what's fresh news? We are currently:
- Spreading critical pro-life news: "Abortion Looms in Ireland," writes Irish newspaper columnist David Quinn in the new issue you will soon receive. He has an urgent warning for the international pro-life community about a massively well-funded push to legalize abortion in Ireland. On the other hand, international economist Vincenzina Santoro writes that the abortion rate is receding in Italy! The number of abortions has gone down just about every year since 1982 (it was legalized in 1978). The vast majority of Italian doctors are conscientious objectors, and most women in Italy choose abortion as a last resort, not routine health care. These and other critical, timely articles can be found on our current issue page.
- Expanding our readership: Thanks to our project with the Knights of Columbus, the Review subscription base is growing, and in a key demographic--Roman Catholic seminarians. We have embarked on an initiative to offer all U.S. seminaries (and individual seminarians) free digital subscriptions to the Human Life Review. They will be both preachers and counselors for their parishioners. We want them to be wise to the dangers of the culture and strong in their affirmation for life, in all its stages and abilities. To date, we have contacted almost 75 seminaries, and we're getting enthusiastic responses.
- Reaching out to young adults:
The Foundation's
EXPECT program continues to grow. We just held our second annual "One Spring Night" event, this time featuring the pro-life powerhouse
Serrin M. Foster, President of Feminists for Life, who will gave her landmark speech "The Feminist Case Against Abortion." Foster is the creator of the Women Deserve Better campaign and the College Outreach program--which Planned Parenthood once called the "newest and most challenging concept in anti-choice organizing."

will participate as a panelist on
"Engaging the Black Community"
at the 2nd Annual Pro Life Women's Conference in Orlando, June 23-25th.
- Celebrating Pro-Life Heroes! This year marks the 15th anniversary of our Great Defender of Life Award dinner! I am thrilled to let you know we will be honoring former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina--who is now reportedly considering a run to unseat Hillary Clinton's former running mate, pro-abortion Catholic Democrat Tim Kaine, for Virginia senator in 2018.
Fiorina was a true hero for life when she referred to David Daleiden's shocking Planned Parenthood videos on live TV during the 2016 presidential campaign debates. We are excited to salute this courageous defender of life on
October 26 at the
Union League Club in New York City.
