Life is a Looney Tunes episode,
Here at Black Cat Comics in rockin' Milpitas we are, once again and as usual, learning a little something from the parables of Comics and attempting to apply that new knowledge to our everyday lives. Recently DC Comics began publishing crossovers between universes never meant to be crossed over, first mixing their Rebirth DCU with Hanna Barbera and currently melding their classic DCU with the Looney Tunes universe. That got us thinking. Of course these mash-ups are only meant for fun and good times, for homage and for entertainment, but what if we could take the core of the premise and visualize it in our real world? Wouldn't it be great if we could have culture mash-ups in the real world with fun results, not the kinds of results we're used to seeing? In Comics, Marvin the Martian can meet the Martian Manhunter, and though one wants to blow up the Earth and the other tries to save it, they are both Martians and can come to an understanding that works for both of them. Whether he's in a cape, in a dress, or just chomping a carrot, Bugs Bunny is always defending the little guy's simple right to exist. He deserves his place in the Legion of Super Heroes not because he is a great hero, but because he has a good heart. Earthlings don't seem to need an Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator to blow up the Earth. When did right and wrong become so complicated? We learn simple but important lessons from comics and cartoons as children, but somewhere along the road of life we lose the value of these lessons. Check out one of the DC Looney Tunes comics or an all-ages comic this week, and remember that the little lessons in life don't change. In fact, they only become more important...

Captain America Steve Rogers #18 is one of many Secret Empire tie-ins this week, but if you can only get one, it should be this issue because it's a great example of why you should be reading this series! You know reality has been turned upside down when you find yourself rooting for Namor, the Sub-Mariner! Namor has been both friend and foe to the Marvel Universe since day one, so we don't know which side he'll take in this latest conflict. Does he side with his old friend Steve's new view of the world, or is he using that friendship to get close enough to destroy Hydra once and for all? We've been recommending this title from the beginning. Pick up the first three collections, or just jump into this week's issue! - Causey

Peter Case was one of the many Atari players in the world and in 1984 he was on his way to win the Swordquest championship and a golden sword worth $50,000. The game was discontinued and Peter never won the sword and 30 years later he finds out the World Arcade Museum is putting the sword on display. With the swords location now known Peter assembles a team to steal the sword and claim what was his 30 years ago.   Swordquest #1   comes out this week and I am excited to see how this comic plays out, if you were gaming in the 1980's then you know that the Swordquest contest was an actual real event that never finished due to the huge video game crash of 1983. - Anthony

I can't believe they did it. They found a way to perfectly pair Wonder Woman and the Tasmanian Devil. When I saw it first listed I asked, like I'm sure most of you did, 'how the heck are they going to do that'? And lo and behold, they found a way. Wonder Woman requires the help of 'The Devil' to help end the enslavement of her Amazon sisters. She travels to far out dimensions seeking the help of the one that can break the spell. This is a fun romp through Themyscira with yes, the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil. It's a fun take on the character and worthy of a read. Plus, there's a Looney Tunes style mini story at the end. Pick up Wonder Woman / Tasmanian Devil #1 today and enjoy! - Francie

With our recent move we've lost all the awesome reviews we had on Yelp. Whenever a business relocates they remove the old reviews and treat it as a brand new business. Our reviews look pretty meager! We could use your help in spicing them up! Thanks in advance!
