Directors Letter

Dear Chamber Members and Friends,

Therapy is in full swing now meaning that they "officially" get to do active therapy. Let's just say that active therapy isn't as fun
as passi ve, but will help ensure I move to full recovery. Thank you to everyone for your continual patience as I mend. We are moving right along!

The May showers are definitely bringing May flowers which we love to see. It is a sign that Summer is on the way which we also love. So, what do we have planned to come up in the Summer?

First, we are finalizing our documents and details for the upcoming parade and block party which will occur on Saturday, June 24th. The parade will be at 9 am and lineup will start at 7:30 am at RHS. The block party will run from 10 am to 2 pm and will include local food visionaries (think taste of Chicago), local artists, games for the kiddos, and demonstrations plus a little live music. We are beyond excited and grateful to the team who has worked diligently to get this event re-branded and in the launch stage. What does that mean? It means that we are looking to create a memorable yearly event by combining the two events from both organizations into one weekend with an updated, relevant, 21st century feel that Fulton County residents can enjoy for years. We don't want to give too much information away as we are waiting for a couple last pieces before we do the BIG reveal. That said, the parade will still have entry forms which will be available to the public soon and the block party will also have applications for local artists, food visionaries, folks who want to do games and demonstrations. Both of those will be available at the Chamber and online by the end of the week. Please keep your eyes peeled on all local media sources for more information and for the BIG reveal! Plus, get that date on your calendar so we can do a little celebrating of Living Local that day.

Second, check out the flyer for our upcoming Women In Business event which will occur on Friday, June 9th. Prepare to be INSPIRED by our great speaker who comes highly recommended by Mayor Milo of LaPorte who was last year's "INSPIRE" speaker. Registration will open soon. Don't miss out!

Next, I am pleased to say that I have finally been released to drive so I can deliver plaques/certificates to sponsors/members. I want to say a special "Thank YOU!" to each of you for your patience in receiving these. We are grateful to our intern Aaron Brooks for beginning the delivery, but there is only so much you can do in an hour. We wanted to make sure we had personal contact with you and now that will be possible. Can't wait to see you and chat about your company!

Lastly, the Policy and Procedure Committee worked diligently when we met to decide on a process to tackle this huge task and scheduled another meeting for June. It is going to be a BIG job, but someone has to do it. Thank you to the team who is working with us to accomplish this task.

As always, thank you for your great support this last month and we look forward to another great month serving you and our community! Please don't ever hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Blessed to be in Fulton County,

Amy A. Roe

At Webb's Family Pharmacy there are two things that drive what we do day in and day out. They are our patients' health and well being and our community.  In an effort to combine these goals, we will be hosting weekly community bike rides during the warmer months. There will be routes for both beginner and intermediate riders. These rides are meant to be leisurely to allow for socializing and taking in the beauty of our community. We will gather in the back parking lot of Webb's at 5:30 with the ride starting at 6:00 every Thursday, weather permitting.

Our hopes are to provide the community with a regular, healthy activity that also highlights our historical downtown area, our beautiful Lake Manitou and the Nickelplate Trail. These three assets in our community are well known, but seldom connected. We hope that our Webb's Wheelers ride provide that connection and further enhance all that Rochester has to offer.
If you join us, share your ride experience on social media using #webbswheelers. Like Webb's Family Pharmacy on Facebook to stay up to date on our community rides, new gift arrivals, sales, and health and pharmacy news!

The Rochester Downtown Partnership and Fulton County Chamber of Commerce are partnering together this year to host the first annual "Living Local Fest," highlighting the areas unique personality.
Celebrating the best of Fulton County,  Rochester Downtown Partnership and Fulton County Chamber are providing a family friendly event which will offer a taste of Fulton County.  This event will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 featuring a parade and block party.  The parade will begin at 9:00 AM, starting at the high school going East on 15th St. and then traveling North on Main Street and then West on 8th Street. PARADE APPLICATION
The block party will kick off at 10:00 AM and will  end at 2:00 PM, this will feature local food visionaries, local artists, games for kids, demonstrations and live music.   This event will be held on 8th Street and the Court House square.  Both events unique theme this year is "Summer in Fulton County", celebrating the greatest features that  Fulton County has to offer during this season.  If you desire to be a food visionary, local artist or an organization who wants to provide games or demonstrations for kids, click the following link.
In addition, the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce has decided to complete the decoration of it's front office in a fun manor by allowing the community to be a part of the process.  What does this mean?  This means a photo contest will be held for the next month to uncover the best photos featuring Fulton County.  The details and rules to the contest are HERE.
We look forward to rolling out this revamped event which we feel will be a relevant and modernized tradition for families to enjoy for years to come.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions to Beth at the Chamber.
