Margot Chappel
Title V Maternal and Child Health Program Manager
Nevada Department of Health and Human Services
Division of Public and Behavioral Health | Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health
Margot Chappel has worked for the state for 10 and a half years. In 2006, she started working in the DHHS Director's Office as the Head Start Collaboration Director. After 7 and a half years serving in that capacity, she spent the last 3 and a half years working at the Aging and Disabilities Services Division as team leader for provider certification of early intervention providers and the division's participation in the National Core Indicators survey of adults and seniors with disabilities who were receiving services in community and institutionalized care. A lifelong student, she has an Associate degree in Pre-Kindergarten Education, a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master's degree in Human Services.

Kayelynn Ogden
Chair of the Northern Nevada MCH Coalition
Kayelynn Ogden is a program manager with The Children's Cabinet and has worked for the Children's Cabinet for the past 12 and a half years. She oversees their chronic disease prevention grant and their community health workers grant state wide. Also, she is an early childhood and out of school time trainer and provides trainings for local, state, and national conferences on topics such as childhood obesity, safe sleep, leadership and professional development.
She serves on various local and state boards supporting early childhood and out of school time in Nevada. She is looking forward to working closer with the Maternal and Child health coalition as the new chair of the Northern Nevada coalition.

Jessica Lamb
Co-Chair of Northern Nevada MCH Coalition
Jessica Lamb is the Children's Health Policy Manager at the Children's Advocacy Alliance. Jessica developed her passion for children's health early in her career at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows where she coordinated their health education program. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Community Health Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. Jessica began working for the State of Nevada's Health and Human Services where she gained expertise in public health policy initiatives and community engagement efforts. Through serving on
various boards and committees to volunteering in her community, Jessica is excited to join the Northern Nevada MCH Coalition to ensure that every mother and child in Nevada has the opportunity to be health

Northern Nevada MCH Coalition Secretary
Lanea Ariel Warren, a recent graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno, has served her community in a myriad of ways. As well as owning and independently running two small businesses, she spends her time staying busy by working and volunteering within her passions. Before joining the MCH Coalition, she served as the 2016 Treasurer of the Entrepreneurship Cub and the Founding President of the Professional Network of Women at UNR. During her work at the University, she noticed a personal need for Lactation rooms within the Student Union. She, along with upper Management at the Nevada Wolf Shop, developed additional space for Lactating Mothers, like herself.
She has also served as a Policy Council Member at the University of Nevada, Reno's Early Head Start program for the last three years. Starting her first-term as Treasurer in 2014 and ending her last-term as the Chairwoman in 2017. While leading the council, she developed the Parent Volunteer Ad-Hoc Committee to raise in-kind dollars and support family involvement within the school and also their classrooms.
Lanea currently serves as the Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition's Marketing Coordinator and has done so for the last three years. She works very closely with NNBFC Leadership in bullet-proofing their annual World Breastfeeding Week Celebration, called the Liquid Gold 5k.

Jan Houk
Northern Nevada MCH Coalition Treasurer
Jan Houk has been an RN for over 30 years and have spent the majority of her nursing career working with children and adolescents. She has been employed as a nurse on the Child and Adolescent unit for an In Patient Psychiatric Hospital. She has worked as a staff nurse on Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care Units and as a Pediatric Telephone Triage nurse. Jan was a School Nurse for Washoe County School District for 15 years. She id currently a Public Health Nurse for Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health at Washoe County Health District. Her responsibilities include working with pregnant women and families in our various clinics.

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) encompass a range of mental health disorders- including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder- that occur during pregnancy or up to two years postpartum. PMADs are the leading complication of childbirth, affecting 1 in 7 women.

7th Annual Liquid Gold 5k Walk / Run sponsored by the Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition
Come celebrate the 7th Annual Liquid Gold 5k and bring awareness to breastfeeding as we kick off World Breastfeeding Week. The beautiful morning starts off at the University of Nevada, Knowledge Center. Our well-marked course winds through the University campus and after the race please stay for our great family event. There will be a children's fair, kid/family friendly vendors, post-race snacks and drinks, and a great raffle! And don't forget The Big Latch On which will take place after the race too! Free Parking near the start line in Brian Whalen Parking Garage off of Virginia.

Remote Area Medical (RAM) Event
Truckee Meadows Healthy Communities (TMHC) is bringing the RAM event back to Reno
The RAM mobile outreach clinic travels to U.S. cities to provide FREE medical, dental and vision care for those who are uninsured, under-insured, with no eligibility requirements and no identification necessary.

Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) - Meal sites sought to feed children during summer months
NDA is seeking sponsors to provide free meals to children during the summer through the federally funded
Summer Food Service Program (
SFSP). Sponsors may prepare meals or serve meals obtained from another SFSP sponsor, public or commercial food vendor, a local government agency or a school food service department. All meals must meet USDA's minimum meal pattern requirements.
Past year's sponsors have included Three Square Food Bank, Food Bank or Northern Nevada, churches, city parks, schools and Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state.
