Summertime is full swing, we enjoyed the fireworks, barbeques and celebrations - hope no one lost any fingers. Summertime allows for a change of pace; we can break away for a long holiday weekend and assess our

ln the world of facial performances, there is sometimes a need to capture facial expressions for blend-shapes in conjunction with mocap or other forms of facial performance.

As you are producing your film, game, or episodic, there may not be time to run out and have this done off-set, or to use another method as it is very labor intensive. This tool gives us what we need; speed and agility with an exceptional deliverable for our customers.

In between our projects we continue to test and to find better and quicker ways to set up and to use this system. If you are doing a lot of characters all of the time the old way, this may save you lots of time and labor, resulting in a much faster turn-around.

| Build Bigger 3D Assets for your Project |
There are several ways to build bigger and better 3D
assets for your project, depending upon how much time and money you have allotted for 3D assets.
For example, you could have a 3D modeler just model your assets from sketches, and depending on his / her experience you would have your
3D model in days or weeks.

Alternatively, you could buy a similar asset online, and then modify it to make it unique for your project. This might be a quick solution, depending upon the level of finish and detail of the purchased asset. This may work out fine; in fact, you may be using this strategy now.

Lastly, you could 3D scan your model with
structured light
to get an exact digital replica. Similarly, you can use photogrammetry to build an exact 3D replica using DSLR cameras and high-resolution photography. If you are building a 3D model of a structure or an environment you can utilize a drone to cover all of the angles; however this does take great skill and patience to get it right.

| 3D Scanning for Virtual Reality |
Virtual Reality has found its place in the consumer market as indicated by Sony's PSVR sales, which easily beat its estimates of one million units sold within six months of the October 13, 2016 launch date. Prior to this success many critics presumed that this batch of
VR would be more of a gimmick, without any true staying-power, and that the somewhat cumbersome weight of the headsets would discourage adoption by a loyal fan base.
Sony's price tag ($400+) has established them as the leader in an expensive category, and they have done a great job of keeping the first wave of customers happy by adding features to the PSVR, such as the ability to watch 3D Blue Ray movies on the headset.

We are looking forward to working more within the
VR platform as it matures and expands genres from games into tv, film internet and even e-commerce.

faces, intricate fabric details on clothing (seams, pockets, collars) and environments, all captured perfectly for fantastic VR experiences.
