| College football, one of America's most beloved and popular institutions, is getting ready to celebrate a big birthday. And it plans to do so in style. A group of college football leaders, including the National Football Foundation and President & CEO Steve Hatchell, announced plans to launch a nationwide celebration to commemorate the game's 150th anniversary in 2019.
Longtime college athletics administrator and former Big 12 Conference commissioner Kevin Weiberg has been selected to run the effort, beginning August 1st, 2017. He will work out of the NFF's headquarters in Irving, Texas.
The commemoration will be celebrated at all divisions of intercollegiate football during the 2019 season, with a focus on November 6, and culminating with the College Football Playoff National Championship in January 2020. |

June 27 marked the 33rd anniversary of the NCAA vs. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma, the 1984 U.S. Supreme Court decision that greatly expanded the number of college football on television from 89 the year before the decision to nearly 200 the following year.
Former Big Eight Conference Commissioner and Emeritus NFF Board Member, Chuck Neinas, who at the time served as the executive director of the College Football Association (CFA), played a lead role in arguing the case, and the National Football Foundation (NFF) captured some of his thoughts on the anniversary and its benefits for college football and most importantly for the fans.

July, Attic Treasures
In July, the College Football Hall of Fame will be opening a new, limited-time special exhibit. Attic Treasures is a specialty exhibit delivered by UPS, that displays a wide range of memorabilia and artifacts. The exhibit also tells a story of the sources and methods the Hall used to obtain these unusual pieces of memorabilia. SIAC Media Day: The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced that it will host its annual Football Media Day on Tuesday, July 11, at the College Football Hall of Fame.
July 15, Movie Time at the Hall: The College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience and Explore Georgia invite you to "Movie Time at the Hall." All guests in attendance on July 15 will be able to watch two feature films, Remember the Titans and Little Giants, on the 32-foot wide screen on the playing field at no additional cost. Popcorn, chips and drinks will be available for purchase, so take a break from the heat and have a nice fun day at the Hall.

NFF Board Member and 2008 NFF Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award recipient

will be inducted
into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame.
July 1 marked 20 years since NFF Board Member John Swofford became ACC commissioner.
ESPN announced that 2017 College Football Hall of Fame electee and 1997 Campbell Trophy winner Peyton Manning (Tennessee) will host the 2017 ESPYS July 12 in Los Angeles. The awards show will air live on ABC.
College Football Hall of Famers Tom Cousineau (Ohio State) and Tim Krumrie (Wisconsin) will be in attendance at the 2017 Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon July 25 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
College Football Hall of Famers Coach Bill Bowes (New Hampshire) and Michael Payton (Marshall) will be inducted into the State of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Oct. 27-28 at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport, Pa.
2016 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Karter Schult (Northern Iowa) is among the recipients of the 2016-17 Missouri Valley Football Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award, the highest academic achievement in the conference.
UCLA athletics, led by 2017 NFF Toner Award recipient Dan Guerrero, officially kicked off its partnership with NFF-partner Under Armour.

The NFFCHOF Bill Dooley (N.C.) Chapter will hold its annual Pigskin Preview July 20 at the Embassy Suites in Cary, N.C. The event features insights from the five local college head coaches on the upcoming season. Expected to attend are Duke's David Cutcliffe, N.C. State's Dave Doeren, North Carolina's Larry Fedora, North Carolina Central's Jerry Mack and East Carolina's Scottie Montgomery.

Each year, the NFF invites universities, colleges, conferences and bowl games from across the country to provide support for NFF programs through its Institutional Academic Membership Program. The program allows the NFF to greatly enhance the power of football's collective voice while actively building a stronger national platform for the game with community leaders, educators and the media.

Since 1959, the National Football Foundation has annually recognized the best and brightest college players, presenting them with prestigious NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards, presented by Fidelity Investments. The $18,000 postgraduate scholarships are presented at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City.
Launched in 2008, the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Alumni Association provides a powerful vehicle for past honorees to remain in the vanguard of the NFF's present efforts. Membership for the 2017 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Alumni Association is now open.
