Rector's Thoughts

Dear Friends,
Our reading from Matthew's Gospel this week is a reminder of something we don't hear often enough.  The creator who made us cares about what we do and offers us abundant life if we trust in God to make all things new. The  Disciples are encouraged three times (10:26, 28, 31) not to fear what any person can do. In contrast to fearing people, the fear of God is an open, reverent, humble awe. This trust in God bestows fearlessness upon all disciples. The death and resurrection of Jesus show that those who kill the body cannot separate disciples from God and from fullness of life. The acknowledgement of Christ is the touchstone of each disciple's destiny. Matthew reminds us how precious each one of us are to the God of the Universe.
In the next few weeks I will be available for tea and conversation to discuss the time we have shared as well as any hopes or dreams you might have for St. Peter's.  Please join me for tea on any one of the following dates:  June 25th, 2-4 pm, July 2nd, 1-3 pm or July 9th, 1-3 pm .  Note the change of times this Sunday the 25th.  I will be returning from our Parish retreat.  I look forward to seeing you at one of these gatherings.

Blessings,
Ann+
Making a Difference
Reaching our community
This Letter is from a family in the community expressing their gratitude for the "Just Lunch" program.

Dear Congregation of Saint Peter's,
Our family wishes to thank you for the Just Lunch mission that you began this year. I have two teens at Poolesville HS. Both have taken advantage of your Just Lunch outreach. Each appreciates it for different reasons. My son frequently comes to Just Lunch but doesn't always eat there. Sometimes he brings his lunch and eats with friends. He loved the dog there and appreciates a safe place to sit and have lunch with friends. He specifically requested that we make a donation as he thinks the program is so important to so many for different reasons.
My daughter appreciates the safe place to eat but also the food. The kids say the food tastes so good as it's homemade which both really appreciate. We are active in our church and can appreciate a successful mission outreach. We can't afford to give each kid $5-10 a day for lunch. This has really helped us. Please accept this donation. If you have this mission next year we will make another contribution. I could also help perhaps a few times. Thank you for doing God's work and spreading love to teens who so often need the love!
