designLAb is pleased to welcome new art and design exhibits with a public reception on Friday, June 23 from 5:00 - 9:30 PM. Exhibitions are on view in Pacific Design Center's Blue Building Lobby and Second Floor with happy hour (cash bar) at Red Seven, located on the first floor of the Green Building. designLAb provides a platform to explore art that addresses the design center's unique context of interior design, spanning a variety of art disciplines and media. designLAb is conceived and directed by New York-based curator Helen Varola and made possible by Charles S. Cohen, collector and generous supporter of MOCA Pacific Design Center.

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles is proud to present another month of incredible independent film talent. There will be two  InFocus: LGBTQ Cinema Film Programs. The first shorts program focuses on stories of love, connection and reconciliation by both local filmmakers and international talents from China and Brazil.   Closing the evening is the second LGBTQ shorts program that revolves around conflicts of identity, community and family. This program's stories include a serial killer on the hunt for love, millennials who decide to get their lives together after one last night of debauchery and four misfits who make the world their stage.

The City of West Hollywood's WeHo Arts program partners with Outfest and Showtime Documentary Films to present Whitney: Can I Be Me?, a powerful film about music icon Whitney Houston, by acclaimed BAFTA Award winner Nick Broomfield.  

The documentary film uses behind-the-scenes footage, candid interviews, and performance footage to explore all sides of Whitney, her life, and the impact her death had on those close to her and on her fans.

Showcasing a diverse collection of visuals and materials, LESBIANS TO WATCH OUT FOR features the The Lesbian Avengers: 25th Anniversary Exhibition , and tells the stories of LA queer women in groups ranging from ACT UP LA, Queer Nation LA and the LA Dyke March to untold histories of local lesbian groups including United Lesbians of African Heritage (ULOAH), Los Angeles Asian  Pacific Islander Sisters (LAAPIS), Lesbianas Unidas (LU) and other organizations, that created community and inspired a new generation of lesbian activists to 'reclaim the universe. The Exhibition runs thru June 30th!

This exhibit is presented as part of the City of West Hollywood's One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival.
