Vaughan Council appointed Sunder Singh as the new Local and Regional Councillor. The decision came at a Special Council Meeting on June 28. Ms. Singh has extensive leadership experience and has been an active member of the Vaughan community for many years.

Celebrating 25 years of friendship
|
On June 28, the City of Vaughan welcomed a delegation from Sora, Italy to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the International Partnership Agreement between the cities. The relationship was formed in 1992 and has resulted in a number of opportunities to collaborate and cultivate cultural, educational and economic development initiatives.

New joint fire and paramedic station will improve response times
|
Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service, along with York Region Paramedic Services, celebrated the official opening of a new fire and paramedic station on June 26. The environmentally friendly facility will improve co-ordination of resources and enhance efforts to bring emergency services closer to the surrounding community.

Swing, skate and slide at Secord Park
|
The community celebrated the opening of Secord Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 27. Located at 65 Secord Ave., the park features a double tennis court, junior and senior playgrounds, and a skateboard zone as well as a shade structure and spots for sitting and gathering.

Kirby Road closed from Jane to Weston
|
The Ministry of Transportation has started work to widen Highway 400 from Major Mackenzie Drive to King Road. As a result, Kirby Road is closed from Jane Street to Weston Road. If you are travelling on these routes, give yourself some extra time.

Protecting the environment, water quality and your property
