On Friday, June 9th, a Caring Partners medical mission team headed to Belize to serve with several national pastors and their churches. The team spent the majority of their time in western Belize, conducting 5 medical clinics at 4 separate church buildings.
God moved in miraculous ways at each clinic location. On the team's first day of clinic in Belmopan, Pastor Sonny Tulcey and CPI missionary Rhonda Reed headed out into the local neighborhoods surrounding Pastor Sonny's church to personally invite patients to visit the clinic. One local woman, who had just migrated to Belize from El Salvador, was so happy to hear the news of the church's clinic, as her child had a fever, and she was afraid he needed to visit the hospital, but the family had no government insurance or money to have him treated.
Upon arriving to the clinic, the little boy was seen by the CPI medical team, and it was determined he had a bad tooth infection. His mother received the antibiotics he needed, and CPI Team Member and Dental Hygienist Courtney Bell gave the little boy his very own toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss, and lovingly helped him brush his teeth, for the very first time in his life!
At Pastor Sheldon Guzman's church in San Ignacio, Reymundo was the first patient waiting for the medical team as they arrived for the clinic day. Reymundo had walked a great distance to make it to the clinic, despite the fact he had a painful foot injury. Physician's Assistant Jamie Meyer took extra time to care for his injury, ensuring he received the treatment he needed.
Following Jamie's care, Reymundo walked to the Clinic of the Soul, where Team Member Carmen Miller shared Christ with him. Reymundo wept tears of joy as he gladly asked Jesus into his heart as Lord and Savior!
In the village of San Mateo, patient Emilio accepted Christ, and was so excited, he determined to bring his children to the clinic to also hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. Unbeknownst to Emilio and the workers in the Clinic of the Soul, thirty minutes prior, Emilio's wife had also accepted Christ at the clinic. And by God's grace, later that same day, Emilio's children joined their parents in salvation!
But God's goodness knows no bounds - the final two female patients of the day to visit the
Clinic of the Soul shared the same last name. These two woman also accepted Jesus into their hearts - the mother and niece of Emilio!
All toll, the team partnered with four pastors and their congregations, treated 578 patients, distributed hundreds of eyeglasses, and witnessed 137 make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ. To God be the glory - great things He has done!
