CONGRATULATIONS REDBIRD SKYPORT & OUR ATCT STAFF!

Each year, FltPlan.com recognizes the nation's top Fixed Base Operators (FBO) and Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) with their prestigious Pilots' Choice Awards.

FltPlan.com - the largest flight-planning service is North America - determines the winners by asking over 140,000 active pilots to rank their favorite facilities based on exceptional service.

This year, Redbird Skyport was recognized in several categories. Most notably, Redbird was named the 4th best FBO in the entire nation!

This was the first year our ATCT was recognized, coming in eighth out of every ATCT facility in America!

Please join us in congratulating Redbird Skyport and our ATCT crew!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Airfield Construction
Despite the rain, the first phase of construction on Runway 13/31 and Taxiway Juliet is still relatively on schedule. All of the new electrical for the runway edge lights is in place and are almost ready for new fixtures. Excavation for the run-up area on Taxiway Charlie for Runway 13 is underway. This latest extended stretch of rainy days has put pavement work on hold.

Please note that during the duration of construction, the ILS to Runway 13 is inoperable and practice approaches are prohibited.

For a full list of closures and construction details, check out our  Special Notice newsletter from Wednesday, April 1.

Entrance Construction
Unfortunately the extended rain has impacted progress on the entrance construction. Because there is still work being done in the ditch, crews must wait until they have 2-3 consecutive days of dry weather until they can proceed.

Once the rain clears the area, the remaining work on the entrance should take approximately 14 days to complete.
SECURITY FENCING OPEN HOUSE
Thank you to everyone who was able to stop by to check out the security fencing layout! We received great suggestions and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

If you weren't able to make it, feel free to stop by at a time convenient to you and we'll unroll the map and walk you through it!

Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (4400 Highway 21, San Marcos, TX 78666).
HANGAR INSPECTIONS

Fire Marshal Inspections
If you own a hangar on the airfield, chances are you received a letter from the Fire Marshal's office regarding upcoming hangar inspections. The purpose of the inspections is to determine current conditions and are intended to garner a baseline for current and future airport improvements. From the Fire Marshal: "Our goal in this exercise is not for massive sweeping retrofitting of facilities or increased cost potentials. We do, however, need to establish minimum equitable standards for both city and non-city facilities alike."

Inspections will be coordinated by the Fire Marshal's office and will take place over the coming months.

Airport Management Inspections
Concurrent with the Fire Marshal's inspections, Airport Management will be conducting inspections to determine user's compliance with the FAA's Policy on Non-Aeronautical Use of Airport Hangars. Inspections will be scheduled in accordance with individual lease notification requirements.
