Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated
to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.
Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrende
red to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieves Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.

 Please welcome 4-year-old Iris to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue! She's cute as a button, as sweet as can be and small enough to carry in a tote bag (not that we would do that!). Iris is a little on the shy side, but wants so badly to fit in and come out of her shell.
Iris comes from a loving home that spent many nights with Iris upside down in their laps, rubbing her big belly because belly rubs are what Iris loves.
Iris checked herself in on the scale and she topped at 42 lbs, and that is just perfect for this tan beauty. Iris is a little on the shy side when it comes to meeting new people, but once she is familiar with her surroundings, it is like she has been there forever. Iris loves other dogs, and has met several cats too. Iris has been spayed, had a hernia repair, had some teeth work and two ears packed. Iris is going to be brand new!

Pet Toxicities of Summer

Can you guess the four most common things the
ASPCA Animal Poison Control Centergets called about every July 4? They're fireworks, food, lawn products and pool chemicals.
When your clients call in a panic, these tips from APCC veterinarians can help you deal with seasonal toxicity cases from July 4 and all summer long.
Pool Chemicals
Pool chemicals can include chlorine tablets, muriatic acid and brominating tablets.
Exposure to pool products - once they have been diluted appropriately in the pool or spa - is generally not a serious concern. However, it is very different when pets get into the products directly.
Most often there is concern for gastrointestinal signs as well as potential for corrosive injury. Respiratory signs may be a problem if the exposure is in a confined area or the owner has been mixing chemicals inappropriately in a small, enclosed space.
Lawn Products
Generally lawn products fall into three categories: herbicides, fertilizers and insecticides.
Casual exposures to yard products generally result in mild and self-limiting gastrointestinal upset. But what you want to watch out for is exposure to agricultural products (especially older ones), larger exposures to insecticides (particularly granular products) or exposures to older or foreign products.
You are more likely to run in to a nasty organophosphate or carbamate toxicity with older (particularly agricultural) or foreign products.
Food
Grapes/raisins, onions and garlic, xylitol, macadamia nuts, chocolate, moldy food, avocados, cherry pits, alcohol: Summer festivities include a plethora of foods pets should not get into.
While there is not much new to share in this category, xylitol keeps popping up in unexpected places - the newest one is peanut butter. Make sure to have owners check those labels!

Doggie Donuts Recipe
|
You see them eyeing up your delicious treat - now they can have one of their own!
Prep time: 10 Minutes
Bake Time: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Egg
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
3/4 cup of Chicken Broth (preferably sodium free)
1/4 cup of Old Fashioned Oats
Icing:
3 Tsps Non Fat Plain Greek Yogurt
Two drops of honey
Small treats to decorate with your pet's favorite treat (like the bacon flavored treats pictured) or 1-2 tsps. of pet-friendly Juice to naturally color your icing (like Beet or Blueberry)
Step by Step Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400˚ F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick spray.
2. Whisk the egg in a large mixing bowl, add the flour, broth, and oats to the egg mixture. Mix to combine ingredients well, then place on a well-floured surface and roll out to your desired thickness, we suggest ½ inch. With a circular or donut cutter cut out your shapes and place on the baking sheet. Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes until bottoms start to brown slightly.
3. While your donuts are cooling, mix together your Greek yogurt, juice (optional) and a few drops of honey to thicken it up. Wait until donuts are completely cool and decorate with icing and small treats (like the bacon flavored treats pictured).
4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Gather as many buddies as you can and grab a meal (or two!) at this specific Chili's location. As long as you mention Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue to your server, Chili's will donate 15 percent of your tab back to our program. So, yes, your orders of baby back ribs could help us pay our foster dogs' vet bills.
CrossFit Rescue Rodeo

For this rescue rodeo, our job is to bring the foster dogs and, thankfully, D-Town is coordinating the exercise component. Not quite ready to sweat, perspire or even "glisten," no worries... we still want you to come hang out! You'll be in good company with most of our Bulldogs.
From D-Town:
"The day will begin with a workout, with heats starting at 9 a.m. and running every 15 minutes until everyone has had a chance to sweat (spectators are free and always great). In addition to the fabulous sweat you will get, we will be holding a raffle, have a bags (cornhole) tournament for spectators, and tons of pups that need love!"

Our ability to rescue dogs from
