Georgina Economic Development Updates

Do you want to know what is going on in regards to Jackson's Point Harbourfront Redevelopment? If your answer is "yes" then feel free to read the "What We Heard Report". This document has been prepared by The Planning Partnership.

Over the last month, The Planning Partnership and the Town of Georgina held a number of Workshops, conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with interested individuals and stakeholders and received online submissions all of which have been considered in the preparation of the Report "What We Heard".

Stay tuned for next steps which will be a number of Roving Information Sessions - where the design options, that were summarized from the information gathered in June, will be shared with the public enabling additional feedback. Dates and locations for the Roving sessions will be announced shortly.

Georgina & York Region as an "Intelligent Community" Workshopintelligent

A "smart" community is one that has adopted technology to help them work more efficiently.

An "intelligent" community is one that leverages "smart" initiatives to ensure its residents, businesses and institutions can fully participate in the Broadband Economy.  There are hundreds of examples from around the globe which demonstrate that communities that actively adopt "intelligent" practices are relatively more prosperous and offer a higher quality of life than those who do not. They are also more appealing to innovative companies, which are effective at keeping local talent within the community while attracting talent from other areas.

This meeting will involve discussing current and planned programs and initiatives that fall under each of the six Intelligent Community Indicators. It will also provide an opportunity to propose new initiatives for consideration by York Region and its partner municipalities.

York Region appreciates your participation in this session and we look forward to exploring how your municipality and the Region can work together to become more "intelligent".
