5th Sunday in Lent
Did They Get What They Were Looking For?
Katie Kinnison preaching

I’m pretty sure you know this one. We’re doing this story a week early in Gathering because I have other plans for next week.
Jesus comes riding into Jerusalem on a donkey and a group of unimportant people wave palm branches and shout for him to save them. They shout, “Hosanna!” which literally means, “Save, we pray.”
From what did they want saving? Did they really think he could do it?
From what do we want saving? Do we really think he can do it?
I’m not asking for a litmus test of your faith here. You are not the one I’m wondering about today. Today I’m wondering if Jesus saves and what exactly that even means.
So, let’s be brave. Bring all your needs and questions and faith and doubt and the messiness of life. Together, we’ll bring it all to God, and we’ll see what happens.

Yours in the Journey,
Katie

It can feel good to help fill the needs of others. But what happens when we're called to love those stuck in impossible situations or those whose pain is prickly or reminds us too much of our own? Can we find the courage to be fully present when good sense would have us back away? Explore how leaning into our own discomforts and wounds better equips us to meet the pain of the world.
