Recognizing the Resilience and Courage of 21 Million Uprooted
ST. LOUIS (June 19) - The International Institute of St. Louis, the St. Louis Region's Welcoming Center for New Americans, will host its June Bagels & Coffee breakfast on World Refugee Day tomorrow morning, Tuesday, June 20, from 8 am to 9 am, in the Institute's Hall of Nations, 3401 Arsenal St. The topic of tomorrow morning's program is "Recognizing the Resilience and Courage of 21 Million Uprooted."

The latest facts and figures and World Refugee Day proclamations will be presented.

"In recent years, approximately 70,000 refugees have been resettled annually in the U.S. with an average of 650 sponsored by the International Institute of St. Louis. These newcomers have brought considerable cultural and economic vibrancy. The International District on South Grand Blvd. attracts customers from all over the region. Globally-minded St. Louisans live in nearby neighborhoods, drawn by the diverse cultures of Vietnam, Bosnia, the Middle East, Nepal, and of other refugees now abundantly represented on the Southside," noted International Institute of St. Louis President and CEO Anna E. Crossliin

This Bagels & Coffee breakfast is free and open to the public but registration is requested. Please email [email protected] to RSVP.
