global and live webcast audience - we appreciate you all and having been a long standing supporter of live music. We will
continue to do our best to create music performance opportunities . Additionally, thank you to the entertainers
from Emergence Productions. EP especially appreciates your professionalism and we are both wishing you continued
successes and bookings!
This year, at our new location on the Powwow Grounds at Expo New Mexico, audiences and entertainers enjoyed
more seating and a cutting edge electrifying stage & lighting design. Hosted by popular comedians Tonia Jo Hall
and Ernie Tsosie, throughout the 2 days, bands captivated audiences from hip hop & rock jam sessions , mosh
pits, country line dancing to one love reggae music. And away from Stage 49, attendees enjoyed the strolling dance
groups who shared their tribe's songs and dances throughout the Powwow Grounds, including at the new
"TeePee Village".
Highlights included Vernon Reid of the 90's band "Living Colour" collaborating with DJ Logic and several NM
musicians, Nahko and Medicine for the People jamming at the Powwow Drum Roll Call "dance off",Aunty Beachress
at Stage 49, cell phone lights and arena sing-a-long with Randy Granger and so much more! After each performance, b
ands could meet & greet with their fans at the Stage 49 tent to take photos and purchase CD's & T-shirts.

In 2018, Stage 49 will celebrate 10 years at the Gathering of Nations PowWow. After a few years prior, the music stage at
Gathering of Nations Pow Wow was operated by an outside producer who had much interest in things other than the
original concept Derek Mathews had imagined.
In 2008, Derek Mathews and the Gathering of Nations regained control of the
stage and named it Stage 49 and established the original concept and purpose as the FREE performance space for contemporary
and traditional Native musicians. A performance experience on a professional stage, and to perform in front of large Native
audiences. a great chance to reach out and increase fan base, sell recorded merchandise and increase the frequency of gigs.
