Summertime Sibling Workshops
"Sibling Workshops" are a lively celebration of the contributions made by brothers and sisters of someone with special needs. The workshops provide young people with opportunities to discuss the joys and hardships of having a sibling with special needs through fun games and activities. They are also facilitated by adult siblings who "get it."  Lunch is included.
  • 10:30 a.m. on Sat., June 24 for ages 14 to 18 years old (register now)
  • 10:30 a.m. on Sat., July 15 for ages 11 to 13 years old (register now)
  • 10:30 a.m. on Sat., August 26 for ages 7 to 10 years old (registration opens soon!)

They talk about how different they are from their own fathers, about their commitment to always being there for their kids, and their drive to keep learning and doing better.

The WarmLine Family Resource Center is offering scholarships to cover the $125 registration fee for up to 10 parents/caregivers (one per family) to attend the UC Davis MIND Institute's Summer Institute on Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Research to Practice.  The deadline to apply for a scholarship is Thurs. The State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention is set to meet July 13-14 in downtown Sacramento. The council wants to hear from parents about their experiences -- both positive and challenging -- with Early Intervention. WarmLine will provide a stipend to help cover childcare and transportation costs for those parents/caregivers who share their story in person, in writing or by calling into the meeting. The State Council on Developmental Disabilities is recruiting Contracted Interviewers for the Quality Assessment Project in the following counties:   Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, Sierra, Alpine, El Dorado, Yuba, Sutter, Colusa, and Yolo Qualified individuals will meet with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities to discuss the services they receive.  Interviewers make $70 per interview, there is also a bilingual differential.
