When and where can I drop off medications to the Police Department? Is there a special day or is it ongoing?

I received a letter  about Water Service Lines   - what is this about and did it come from the Village?

Where do I sign up to find out more about Police Incidents ?

Residential Trash and Recycling Collection Program  - did I miss the deadline to order an extra cart or switch to a smaller one?

When is Recycle Day in the Bay?

Have a question?  The phone number to Village Hall is 414-962-6690.

The Village of Whitefish Bay cannot recommend any particular coverage and pursuing this coverage is at your own discretion and risk. Please note that out of the Village's 4,500 water service lines, the Village averages 20 leaks per year. If the leak is on the Village's side, we repair our portion at no cost to you . Trash

Residential Trash and Recycling Collection Program  Changes Begin May of 2018

The Final Deadline to pre-purchase an additional cart or switch to 65 gallon cart was Friday, March 9. You may still purchase an additional cart once the program begins, but there may be a short delay.

The Village Website Page for Trash and Recycling is here:

Trash and Recycling Program Hotline:  414-962-6690 Ext.495,  Email:  j.heyden@wfbvillage.org

The next Public Works Meeting is Monday, March 12, at 5:30 pm in the Whitefish Bay Library Program Room.

New Program Cart Placement:
  • Ideally, carts will be placed along the parkway or on the carriage walk within three feet of the street, oriented with (closed) lids opening to street
  • In order for the automated arm to reach each cart, a minimum of three feet between each cart is best.
  • No extra items on or near the carts will be picked up with the regular pickup.
  • New pickup schedules will be provided along with the new cart upon delivery. Refuse pickup will remain weekly, and Recycling will increase to every other week when the program begins.
  • Special pickups for other items will still be available - that process for pickup will be determined.
The Good: Cardboard is containerized, cut up and put in recycling cart. Carts are lined up and reachable by the lift arm.

Change: In May, carts need to face the street and be spaced at least 3' apart. The Village will provide one new trash cart per household. Recycling carts stay the same. If you need a second cart, please contact the Village by March 9 to purchase that cart, or wait until program launch to order additional carts.
The Good: Carts are reachable by the lift arm, carts are spaced almost 3' apart.

Change: In May, all cardboard and recycling needs to fit in the cart. Lids should open towards the street. There will be a new, Village-provided trash cart, but Recycling carts remain the same.
Recycling pickup will increase to every other week. Trash pickup will remain weekly.
Village Hall and Police Department operations will be shared with DPW at their location at 155 W Fairmount Ave at Lydell until Fall 2018. Customer Service Window hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday - Friday.

Village Hall Construction Update: Circle Drive Outlet Relocation Work will continue through Monday, March 12. This outage is temporary and will affect areas surrounding Village Hall.

Snow and Ice Info

Village Snow Procedures:
Village crews clear all streets, starting with main thoroughfares, then secondary streets, then residential streets and alleys. Sidewalks that abut village-owned land, such as parks and government buildings, are also clear. At times an anti-icing agent is applied to streets prior to a snow event preventing ice from bonding to the pavement.

Resident Snow and Ice Removal:
All residents and business owners are responsible for snow and ice removal from public sidewalks within 24 hours of a snow event. Please clear all corners with crosswalks; handicap accessible ramps should be cleared out side enough to accommodate a wheel chair.

Fire hydrants should be shoveled out 3 feet to allow access in the case of a fire. Residents whose property has an adjacent bus stop with concrete are requested to keep that area clear and free of ice to allow for bus patrons to safely get on and off the buses.

For more information please see the Village website at  http://www.wfbvillage.org/267/Snow-Removal

sewertelevising

The Whitefish Bay Public Works Department continues its annual public sanitary sewer main cleaning and televising that began on January 10, 2018. This work takes place annually with Village wide main cleaning and televising coverage every three years. We typically conduct this annual maintenance project during the months of January through March.

Please refer to the map below for the area of the Village that will be cleaned and televised this winter. The sanitary sewer mains in the streets that are highlighted in bold black and red are the lines that will be cleaned and televised this year. There should be no interruption of any sanitary sewer service while this work is proceeding.
If you have any questions on this program, feel free to contact Kevin Kaegi, Public Works Superintendent, at 414-962-6690 ex. 301 or k.kaegi@wfbvillage.org.

Green Tree Road Construction Alert:

In April, construction will begin on the bridge on Green Tree Road. For more information, see the full project overview and images here:

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death from cancer. Colorectal cancer affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most often found in people age 50 and older. Typically, colon cancer begins as a small growth in the colon. Over time, these pre-cancerous growths, called polyps, can turn into cancer. By following the current screening guidelines, your doctor can remove these growths or find cancer in its earliest stages. A common screening method is a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy views the entire colon and polyps can be removed during the procedure if found. This procedure is usually performed every 5-10 years depending on the findings. Though it is usually recommended to start getting screened at age 50, you may need to be screened earlier depending on your family's health history and risk factors. Check out who should be screened and when at: https://www.ccalliance.org/get-screened/who-should-be-screened-and-when/

Take steps to reduce your risk of colon cancer:
  • Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains contain vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants, which may play a role in cancer prevention.
  • Drink alcohol in moderation, if at all. If you choose to drink alcohol, limit the amount of alcohol you drink to no more than one drink a day for women and two for men.
  • Stop smoking. Talk to your doctor about ways to quit that may work for you.
  • Exercise most days of the week. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise on most days. If you've been inactive, start slowly and build up gradually to 30 minutes. Also, talk to your doctor before starting any exercise program.
  • Maintain a healthy weight. If you are at a healthy weight, work to maintain your weight by combining a healthy diet with daily exercise. If you need to lose weight, ask your doctor about healthy ways to achieve your goal.

dropoffmedications

Medication Drop Off Information

The Police Department is Not accepting Medication Drop Off in the Temporary Location at 155 W. Fairmount Ave., or at Recycle Day in the Bay on Saturday, May 5.  However, they will be accepted for one day on Saturday, April 28, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Whitefish Bay will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28th. Items will be accepted from 10 am - 2 pm at the Temporary Village Hall/PD location, 155 W. Fairmount Ave, Whitefish Bay. No drop offs will be accepted any other time.

The temporary facility we are in does not allow for storage of the items that we collect that day and in the past the location and volume of people offered us little control of what we accepted.  We ended up with syringes and other items that were very hard to dispose of.

Legally Blonde: The Musical
Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down, however, when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to fight for justice and prove herself to the world.

A fabulously fun, award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.
