RUNWAY 13/31 RECONSTRUCTION
We're so excited to say that the Runway 13/31 reconstruction is COMPLETE! Hopefully you've been able to do some flying and experience a smooth landing.
Additionally, the PAPIs and PCL are functioning, the ILS is back on, and the run-up area for Runway 13 has been striped.

LEAD-IN LINES
Concerns regarding the condition of pavement on the ramp and taxiways were addressed during the June Airport Advisory Board meeting. Since then, Airport Management has met with TxDOT multiple times and is exploring funding options for major repairs.
In the meantime, color coded lead-in lines have been added to the ramp to assist aircraft coming off of taxiways Alpha and Charlie. These lines are advisory and are meant to direct traffic to areas where pavement repairs have or will occur.
Over the next several months, concrete patches and repairs will continue on Taxiways Alpha and Charlie. Additionally, Airport Management has contracted with a local company to sweep the ramp, taxiways, and runways as often as needed - up to weekly.

AIRPORT-WIDE RESTRIPING
In addition to the lead-in lines, all taxiway centerlines were restriped and all runway numbers were repainted.
Most noticeably, enhanced taxiway markings were added on Charlie and Delta to reduce confusion when taxiing toward the intersection of Runways 8/26 and 13/31.
Up next is restriping of runway centerlines, runway lead-in lines, and all hold bars. We're securing quotes and will let you know as soon as we anticipate work to start.

KILO DEVELOPMENT AREA (KDA) HANGAR
A FAA/TxDOT grant for engineering associated with a box hangar on the KDA was approved at the end of August by TxDOT Transportation Commission. Selection for the engineering firm is currently underway.
In the meantime, the City has hired RPS Klotz Engineering to perform a feasibility study. The report will include alternative analysis, cost estimating, schedule planning, and regulatory requirements.

ELECTRIC SUPPLY UPGRADES
In an effort to reduce power outages and interruptions to the airport, beginning in October PEC will install a loop along Highway 21 as a backup feed for the airport. This should mean fewer surges and interruptions for all our tenants!

RUMOR CONTROL
I
n an effort to be as fair and transparent as possible, we're trying out a new process for box hangars that come available for lease - Requests for Proposals (RFP). Our first foray into the RFP process for hangar rental occurred in May of this year for 1815 Airport Drive (pictured above).
The entities who responded to the RFP did not meet the minimum requirements for renting the facility and all bids were ultimately rejected.
Since that time, several other hangars of varying size have become available for lease. We're refining the RFP process and expect to solicit bids for at least three different hangars.
