Conniston MS Teacher Receives "LifeChanger of the Year" Award
Stephanie Killingsworth, an International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Science teacher at Conniston Middle School, fought back tears Monday as she was surprised by a cafeteria full of students, her family and representatives from ValuTeachers with news that she has been chosen for the "LifeChanger of the Year" Award.

Her eligibility for the award was a result of being selected as the School District of Palm Beach County's Teacher of the Week after she was nominated for the award by the parents of one of her students, who had nothing but high praise for her dedication both inside and outside of the classroom.  Read more...

#ThankATeacherPBC: John I. Leonard HS Teacher Named PBCSD's Teacher of the Week

The Lancer Drumline marched into the quiet media center of John I. Leonard High School in a rising crescendo to help surprise Sarah Cummings as last week's  #ThankATeacherPBC  Teacher of the Week.

Ms. Cummings' classroom has been described as a "safe place, where her kindness rubs off on her students." This environment of kindness is exactly why Ms. Cummings was nominated for the award by one of her students.

"Everything is a teachable moment to her," said Laura Dunlap, the student in her class that made the nomination. "She makes language arts interesting and relevant. She creates a great classroom environment and community where a love of learning and hard work are rewarded. Student work is appreciated, and she always inspires students to do their best.

Tell Me Something Good....
Olympic Heights Community High School student Sebastian Bruno's story is nothing short of remarkable.

Knowing very little English, he moved in with an uncle he barely knew and began school in Palm Beach County. Just a few short years later, he's set to take his first step toward a future most only dream about, having accepted a football scholarship to  Yale University !

"[He] just epitomizes the American dream. Not only is Sebastian an incredible student and a great athlete, but he's even more so a phenomenal kid," Principal Dave Clark shares. "He's been such an asset to our school community, and we just couldn't be more proud of him." Watch the video...
