Dear St. George Families,
As we continue our Lenten journey we celebrate saying goodbye to our old selves in order to make room for the new person fashioned in Christ. On Ash Wednesday we are reminded that we need to commit to doing what's right, to go forth and help others, not just during the next 40 days, but always. "Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping and mourning; rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the Lord, your God" Joel 2:12-18. When we reflect on these examples of commitment, one can see that when we promise to do something or give up something it involves a journey, but it also involves taking action on that journey.
God is counting on us to actively participate in a journey that brings us closer to Him. Remember WWJD? What would Jesus do? He wants us to take that next step and say goodbye to our old ways, commit to doing what's right, and return to the Lord.
May the good Lord bless you and keep you on your journey.
Jack Nelson
