Purim at TABC
Purim rocked at TABC! Talmidim and their families came in costume on Purim night to hear their fellow talmidim read the Megilla and then to have enjoy break-fast and fun entertainment together. Throughout Purim, students visited their rebbeim and teachers and shared the Purim ruach. The festivities continued on Shushan Purim, as the boys vied for the prizes in the Student Council auction. Eitan Katz then led a fun and leibidik chaggia, as the yeshiva sang and danced together. For more pictures click here.

Juniors Attend Drunk Driving Seminar
One of the most important, valuable and impressive programs took place on Friday, February 23rd at TABC. The juniors were secluded in the Bet Knesset to hear from Mr. Steve Benvenisti, a local personal injury attorney (who described, in great detail, a case in which he was involved) and to watch a video, produced by Hackensack Medical Center, which is a reenactment of a horrific car accident caused by a drunk teenage driver. This video is very well produced and interspersed with personal accounts of parents and siblings of victims. Members of the Teaneck police department were present to discuss issues related to DUI, DWI and associated issues.

The main purposes of this and similar guidance programs are to encourage our precious adolescents to make smart decisions and to keep open the lines of communication between parents and children.

Jerusalem Science Contest
TABC congratulates Eitan Leff '18, Benjy Meiner '19, and Eli Rifkind '19 for successfully completing the Jerusalem Science Contest curriculum this year. It is the first time in TABC history that we have had that many students complete the contest.

Additionally, Benjy Meiner placed 3rd in the country in the contest, and won trips to both Chicago next week (to present his research) and Israel in late May as his award. We wish him much success on both trips!
TABC Represents at YU's Debates
Aharon Goldstein '19, Jacob Lerer '19, Eli Levine '19 and Yoav Zolty '19 proudly represented TABC in Sunday's three rounds of debates at Yeshiva University. They argued whether the world's democracies should negotiate with terrorists to release hostages. Aaron Goldstein also participated in the extemporaneous speech competition and reached the final round.

Junior College Night
Scheduled for March 6th
The junior college night will take place on Tuesday night, March 6th at 7:30 P.M. in the Beit Knesset. The meeting will be an opportunity for the College Guidance Department to offer an overview of the college admissions process and the roles and responsibilities of all involved. The Torah Academy College Handbook will also be outlined. There will be time for questions and answers. It is important that all junior students and at least one parent attend. Please enter the building through the Amsterdam Avenue enter where there will be a guard. We look forward to greeting you there.
AP English Class Holds Custody Debate
Mrs. Miller's eleventh grade AP English Language class has been reading Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic novel The Scarlet Letter. They used their knowledge of the book and the rhetorical skills they have been building to hold a custody debate for Pearl, Hester Prynne's daughter. Should the Puritan magistrates grant custody to a more fitting parent who can teach Pearl proper values, or should responsibility for Pearl's soul rest with her birth mother? Luckily for Hester Prynne, the AP English class determined that she will retain custody of Pearl. Congratulations to all of the debate speakers and to Binyomin Schulhof, our resident photographer.
AP American Government Class Visits
the New Jersey State House in Trenton
This past week, as part of their study of the government of the United States, the AP U.S. Government and Politics class traveled to Trenton, New Jersey to visit the home of the New Jersey state government. In addition to seeing the home of our state government the students hoped to bring their study to life. The first part of the trip involved a tour of the State House including a visit to the Assembly and Senate chambers. The students learned how our state government works and some of the differences between state and federal governments.  After the tour the students participated in a "Make a Law" activity. After being sworn (affirmed) in the student debated a law currently before the New Jersey State General Assembly. Should students who are "home schooled" be allowed to participate in public school extra-curricular activities? Ask the students since they explored all the pushes and minuses before voting on the bill. The students returned to TABC and continued their classroom learning.
Juniors Hear from Danny Ayalon
On Tuesday TABC's entire Junior class had the privilege of hearing from Danny Ayalon, Israel's former Ambassador to the UN.
Project Recharge Shabbaton
Lives Up to It's Name
The Project Recharge shabbaton was simply inspirational. The shabbaton began with beautiful   Friday night davening led by senior Shmuel Ross. Throughout  Friday night  the talmidim shared divrei Torah, as they heard from sophomore Dovi Lederer, freshman Harry Meister, and seniors Yonaton Sragow, Yitzi Kopstick, and Eitan Leff. There were shiurim  and chavruta learning throughout the whole Shabbat. The shiurim covered a large swath of topics, including  halacha, Gemara b'iyun, chassidut, and mussar. Shabbat day's davening was led by juniors Yonadav Rimberg and Ben Antosofsky. There was constant "shmoozing" between  Rebbeim, faculty, alumni  and the talmidim, further strengthening their connections. Rabbi Finkelstein ended the shabbaton with an inspirational speech at seudat shlishit.
TABC Welcomes Class of 2022
