Library Scavenger Hunt
How Well Do You Know Your Library? We Challenge you to the Library Scavenger Hunt!
On
Saturday, March 10 from 9am - 4pm.
Kids in grades K-12 are welcome to work alone or as part of a team to find items scattered around the Library! Prizes for the fastest fully completed hunt in 3 categories: Grades K-4, Grades 5-8, and Grades 9-12.

16th Annual Poetry Contest
The Dover Public Library is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Dover Public Library Poetry contest for grades K-12. Prizes will be awarded in six different categories: Grades K-2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, and 11 &12. Poems will be judged on originality, style and creativity. Deadline for entry is April 17th. Students may pick up information about the contest at the Dover Public Library, any Dover school library, or at our website at
library.dover.nh.gov
starting on March 14. All participants are invited to attend an "Evening of Poetry" on Monday, May 21st at 6:30pm. For more information about the contest please contact Denise LaFrance at 516-6082.

Free Yoga for Adults
Join local instructor Emma Adele on
Monday, March 19 at 6:30pm
for a free hour long yoga course for all levels (beginner-intermediate) at the Library! Emma teaches at Bending Bodhi Yoga Studio in Dover and offers a gentle, meditative yoga experience. Wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a yoga mat. Please register online as space is limited.

Friends of the Library Cultural Event
Join us for some New Orleans style jazz music on
Tuesday, March 20th at 7pm.
Born on a snowy Fat Tuesday night of 2012, the Soggy Po' Boys have been honing their craft of New Orleans' music in their home town of Dover, New Hampshire. The New Orleans flavored septet plays more than a hundred shows every year, from festivals and concerts to politics-infused burlesque collaborations and street parades.

Blues Edutainment
Are you a Blues music fan? Would you like to learn more about this uniquely American art form? On
Monday, March 26 at 6:30pm
there will be such an opportunity at the Library. The Granite State Blues Society will present a musical performance by Baza Blues, made up of
NH musicians, Doug Philbrook and Geoff Caldwell. Since March is Women's History Month, their program will talk about important women in Blues. A musical treat you won't want to miss!

Irish Living History Program
On
Tuesday, March 27 at 7pm
, Cynthia Neale, a published author of four historical fiction novels called 'The Irish Dresser Series'. Cynthia will present at the library dressed in immigrant clothing and get into character to tell the tale of her protagonist, Norah McCabe. Cynthia's material is taken from her four novels. There will be music, dance steps, and vintage hats the audience members may try on. (Norah is a milliner in Cynthia's latest novel). There will also be scones for the audience to enjoy.

Organic Gardening Series
The class will run successive Mondays from February 26 - March 12 at 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This comprehensive organic gardening course will be presented by local Master Gardener Vincent Cirasole of Rochester. The course will include practical tips on: how to create a new garden; soil preparation; seed starting; planting techniques; container gardening; and much more. What is a Memory Lab?
The library is offering a new service to patrons we're calling the Memory Lab. This is for anyone interested in preserving memories, that are on dated or even obsolete technology. We have machines to convert VHS to digital, cassette tapes to digital and photos, slides and negatives to digital. Take those home videos on VHS and make them accessible. Enjoy your old mix tapes digitally. Learn how to use each or any combination of the three that you desire with classes being offered starting this month. Check out the events calendar and select Technology Classes from the drop down menu at the top of the calendar under All Events.

Knitting Group

Monday, March 12 from 6 - 8pm
the knitting group will meet
in the Trustees Room. This group is open to anyone who has a love for knitting and crocheting. All levels are welcome! Please bring your precious works-in-progress and any finished objects you would like to show off to the group.

Artist of the Month
March's artist of the month is Dover resident and photographer Matthew Sullivan.
Originally starting off with action sports photography, Sullivan now focuses on macro photography specifically nature and sunset shots. "I have really been intrigued by the ability to take something like nature or bugs and show them in a way that most people wouldn't notice."
