Looking for something fresh to read?  Feel like listening to some new music?  Wish you hadn't missed a recent movie?  Take a closer look at the SCL catalog landing page here.  If you look to the left you'll see a column labeled "New and Forthcoming Titles" with a variety of lists by format, genre and audience.  Click on the list of your choice, and not only see what's new or on order, but also go ahead place a hold on it for yourself. You can also get to the same lists by going to the SCL website and selecting Books, eBooks & More.

AllData is back!

For those of you that tinker / repair your own cars, here's some exciting news for you!  We have brought back the AllData car repair database.

AllData covers all cars & trucks sold in the United States since 1982, and offers the DIYer wiring diagrams, maintenance tables, diagnostic trouble codes, a labor estimator and so much more. New technical service bulletins and recall notices are also available.

* Please note that AllData is only available for in-library use.

Upcoming Events

February - April
Various Libraries

Interested in trying your hand at a new art form?  Try one - or several - of our Hands On art classes.  This month's classes range from Chinese brush painting, to altered books, to wire & bead jewelry, and more!  These FREE classes have begun and will continue into the beginning of April.  Pre-registration is required, and class size is limited.  No previous art experience is necessary.

Master Gardeners Programs

Shakopee Library & Prior Lake Library

Feeling a bit of spring fever? Indulge in some garden planning with the Carver-Scott Master Gardeners.  This month's classes will cover annuals, flowers for pollinators, and fruit trees. Please note that classes are offered at both the Shakopee and the Prior Lake Libraries on different days and at different times.

David R. Schleper, Senior Research Chair and Vice-President of the Shakopee Heritage Society, will present an informative program about the early women settlers of Shakopee.

Scott County Law Library

The Scott County Law Library is offering a FREE 30 minute consultation with a volunteer family law attorney. This clinic is only for people with family law issues. These issues include divorce, custody, child support and parenting time. This clinic is NOT for persons currently represented by an attorney. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Celebrate Old Time and Czech dance tunes with members of the world's largest (and perhaps most popular) Chemnitzer concertina club.

Join these four members of the South Metro Chorale as they sing and play gospel, folk, Irish, Broadway and civil war songs on various instruments, including a mountain dulcimer, and a home-made tomato box bass!

Is your criminal record stopping you from getting a job or a place to live? Volunteer Lawyers Network (VLN) is offering this free clinic to help you explore the possibility of expunging your record.

The South Metro Chapter of SCORE presents FREE, confidential small business counseling, coaching and mentoring once a month. Register by calling Savage Library at 952-707-1770.

AARP Income Tax Assistance
Tuesdays, 10:00am-3:00pm
Prior Lake Library

Volunteer counselors, trained and certified by AARP will offer free tax assistance to senior adults and low-income families eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Counselors may assist with basic federal and state returns.

Every other Sunday
March 4 & 18, 2:00-3:00pm
Savage Library

Try this ancient activity to gently build strength, stamina and flexibility. Taught by a certified Tai Chi instructor.

What would you do if your identity were stolen? Knowing what to do is important because an identity thief can hijack your tax refund, alter your medical records, and prevent you from getting credit or a job. This class covers what Identity theft is, how to protect your identity and avoid identity theft, and provides clear action steps to take if it happens to you.  Registration required.
