Call to Meeting

Book of Order, Form of Government G-3.0304, and the Bylaws of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area, the Presbytery will meet in stated session beginning at 9:00 a.m., SATURDAY, March 10, 2018 at Valley Community Presbyterian Church, 3100 Lilac Drive North, Golden Valley, MN 55422.

The full Presbytery Packet will be online beginning Thursday, March 1.  You are strongly encouraged to read the packet prior to the meeting.

Our presbytery's commitment to mission will be one focus of our meeting:
  • We will welcome PMA Mission Co-Worker, Rev. John McCall, to speak to us about his ministry in Taiwan. Rev. McCall has been serving in Taiwan for 16 years, teaching courses on ministry and spiritual formation at the three seminaries of the Presbyterian Church of Taiwan. His philosophy of mission stems in part from a theology of incarnation that he draws from John's Gospel. "I love the way Eugene Peterson translates John 1:14: 'The Word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood,'" John says. "As Christians and mission co-workers, we are called to move into the neighborhood to live with and love the folks to whom we have been called. It's a privilege and a wonderful opportunity." Rev. McCall will preach at our opening worship and also offer some theological reflection later in the meeting.
  • We will commission our 2018 Mission Team as they prepare for the Mission Trip to Louisiana, as organized by our Mission and Witness Committee.
  • We will also commission our delegates to the 223rd General Assembly.
  • We will receive an update from our Anti-racism Task Force regarding our commitment to combat racism.

Also on the Docket:

  • Worship, which will include celebration of the Lord's Supper and the Necrology Report.
  • Denominational matters related to the 223rd General Assembly including five recommendations from our Bills and Overtures Committee.
  •  Opportunities to recognize ministry anniversaries and transitions.
  • A substantive report from our Executive Presbyter.
  •  A report on Presbytery financial matters from the Board of Trustees.

LUNCH will be available for 110 people at $10.00 per person with ten vegetarian meals.

There is parking available on the adjacent parking lot and on the street, with handicap parking and drop-off areas on the church property.

Grace and peace,

Barbara Lutter
Stated Clerk
