LGC's 2018 March Newsletter
Spring was here with temperatures stretching into the high seventies in the valley. In one day we went right back to winter. Spitting snow in the foothills and bringing cold winds to the almond blossoms and baseball games. That damn groundhog!

Kirsten & I would like to thank everyone who came by the booth and watched my presentations at the Fly Fishing Show in Pleasanton. We love seeing everyone and having them show off their fish porn! I would also like to thank Ben Furmisky and the entire Fly Fishing Show staff that allowed us to do the LGC’s 2018 Fly Club Symposium. The symposium was a hit, with many good ideas that have led to collaboration between clubs already. I would like to thank everyone that attended. You make the world of fly fishing better!

There are places to fish, so get out there!

Rivers
The rivers are going through another change. From the great warm weather we had to off color water due to the snow melt and rain. The Yuba River is forecast to rise 500cfs with a spike from Deer Creek has made the water off color quickly. The Feather River has been okay with some steelhead being caught. Most of the fish that are in the system are down streamers. We have seen some fresh spring fish in the system. The Feather will get better fast. Swinging flies is a great idea on the Feather this time of year. The Lower Sac has been good. The fish are keying on caddis’ hatches all throughout the upper river. The Sac will be good for the next couple of months. We have open dates – May 23, 24 & 30, June 5, 6 & 7.

Lakes
Baum Lake has been fishing well. With tons of fish planted in the lake it hard to go wrong. I haven’t been up to the lake in a while but, all the reports I have been hearing are great. Lake Almanor has been fishing well. With the latest fish plant of rainbows and browns at Geritol Cove, on some days it like fishing in a bucket. Please release these fish; they are the future of the lake. We still have three days open for the 1 on 1 Hex Hatch nights with Lance. The dates are July 5, 6 and 8 th . The nights are just $135 a person.

Workshops
We have a couple of workshops coming up on the calendar. The workshops are intended to give the student a great foundation. We show you rods, lines, reels, leaders, rigging and flies. The cool point in all the workshops is we teach you how to put it all together on the water for a reasonable price. The Streamer Workshop is May 30, 2018. We only have one more spot open in this workshop. The price for the Streamer Workshop is $85. The Tenkara Workshops are June 16 and June 30, 2018. These workshops will be held on the creeks around Lake Almanor. Both of these workshops are wide open. The Tenkara Workshop is $85 a person. We have all the Tenkara gear. All you need is wading gear!

Tours
On May 31 st we have an East Park Reservoir tour on the schedule. East Park is a great fishery with bass and panfish. As always, we show you the lake, accesses areas, boat launches, camp grounds and the lake. Where to fish and how to fish, we have lunch; rig and then we fish for the afternoon. On August 11 th we have a Yuba Tour . The Yuba Tour will show you access, rigging, hatches and much more. This tour is great day learning about the Yuba and how to fish it. We open up the guide book and let you gather as much information as you can get.

Product of the Month
The Yeti Mugs are to die for. I got these bad boys on the boat now. They keep Kirsten’s chili and chicken noodle soup super warm, a great piece of equipment that has become a winner at LGC. These Yeti Mugs are 24oz and come in great colors. Ours are stainless!

LGC's Campouts
The Campouts are gaining popularity. They are simply fantastic. These campouts are a combination of a tour, workshop and guided trip. The Lassen Campout is just that. We take you all over the Lassen Park and Lassen National Forest and we show you lakes and streams to fish. Then we fish them. We also help our guest with the camping experience as well. If the guest needs help with campgrounds, backing up trailers we are there, helping out! The Lassen Campout is July 27, 28 and 29 th . We only have 1 spot available – if you need to bring a friend then you can twist my arm and open another spot. Price is $225 a person.
