Older Adults - Our Federation's Core Areas of Impact

We are committed to enriching both the minds
and bodies of our senior population. Support
services, such as in-home care, transportation, and  kosher meals-on-wheels, enable seniors to age in  place in their own homes. Social, recreational, and  cultural programming promotes Jewish culture,  heritage, and values to keep seniors engaged in  the community.

Some of the core programs for older adults include Aleph Home Care, Lions Gate, Saltzman House, Dubin House, Gesher House, Safe Haven, meals programs, lifelong learning classes, patient partners, Cafe Europa, grief support, Veteran's services, and Holocaust survivor assistance.

50th Anniversary of Israel’s Six-Day War

This week marks the 50th  Anniversary of the Six-Day War which occurred on June 5th  - 10th  , 1967. The conflict resulted in Israel reunifying Jerusalem under the Israeli State, Israel capturing the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the West Bank from Jordan. Many of the topics and issues stemming from the Middle East begin with Israel’s victory 50 years ago.

We invite you to learn more about the Six-Day War through several short video’s from Jerusalem U for this anniversary week to explain the events more in depth.

Special Thanks to Some “Sterling” Volunteers!

On Sunday, June 4th, a group of students from Sterling High School in Somerdale offered to spend a part of their afternoon helping to clean up the grounds of the New Camden Cemetery, which is managed by the Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. The volunteers were moved after hearing about recent desecrations of Jewish cemeteries, and they wanted to help locally.

It was a true mitzvah, and the JCF greatly appreciates the students’ participation.

Temple Emanuel’s Emunah Initiative to enhance building and programs

Temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill has been in its building on the corner of Springdale and Kresson roads for 25 years, and according to synagogue leaders, the time has come for the 67- year-old congregation to upgrade its existing space.
“We’re strong. We’re doing this from a secure position,” said Rabbi Jerome P. David, senior rabbi at the Reform synagogue. He said that in 2017, the congregation lives in its building differently than it did 25 years ago. “In order to meet people’s needs, we need to make changes to our sacred spaces,” he said.
