A Message from the Vestry and Rector of Christ Church
Dear Friends,

We are excited to inform you about our upcoming sanctuary renovation.  This will include new flooring, new "cathedral red" carpet in the tower and chancel, newly painted walls and ceiling, new light fixtures in annex to replace the fluorescent lights, and other cosmetic details.  The decisions for this renovation have been made by our Sanctuary Renovation Committee-which includes Allan Dear (junior warden), Nikki Yarbrough (senior warden), Tammy Borders (vestry member), Marvin Dickey (vestry member), Sally Honeycutt (vestry member), Steph Johnson (facilities manager), Anne Singletary (longtime member representing the 8:00 service), Jan Carter (longtime member representing the 10:00 service), and Dave Johnson (rector)-and approved by the vestry.  The cost of these renovations has already been covered through a combination of monies from the Gabard bequest to Christ Church, surplus monies from the Gabard Building capital campaign that were received after that mortgage had been paid off, and our operating budget-in other words, through the immense generosity of the members of Christ Church.   Renovation work will begin on Monday, June 12 and will continue for several weeks.  During the renovation work all weekly services-including Sunday morning 8:00 and 10:00 services and Sunday evening 6:00 vespers, Wednesday evening 6:00 service, and Thursday morning 7:00 service-will be held at their usual times in the Parish Hall.  We bid your prayers and patience during this renovation work, we thank you for your generous support of Christ Church, and we look forward to worshipping soon with you in our renovated sanctuary.

Yours In Christ,

Nikki Yarbrough

Dominican Republic Mission Trip
Monday, June 12 - Monday, June 19, 2017
Father Dave will be out of the office June 12 - June 19, 2017 for a trip to the Dominican Republic. Please call the church office if you need any assistance.

Please keep the entire DR Mission Team (Julia and Julius Ariail, Leeann Culbreath, Bonnie Hanson, Caroline, Meg and Phyllis Heirs, Dave and Paul Johnson, Jim Lacy, Bill Querin, Fred Richter, Paul Stevenson, Erin Twomey) in your prayers this week as they travel and work alongside the Episcopal congregation in the village of El Pedregal in the Dominican Republic.

The team will be commissioned at the 10:00 worship service on Sunday, June 11th.
Vacation Bible School
Huge Success
Vacation Bible School has come to an end.  Thank you to the over 50 children who came to Vacation Bible School to "Hero Central: Discover Your Strength in God".  A BIG thank you to director Millie Johnson, to all the wonderful parents, teen and adult volunteers, snack helpers, and teachers who came together to show these young children the love and grace of God.  We could not have done it without you.  Thank You!
Youth Mission Trip
The Youth Mission Trip Team has returned safely to Valdosta. The Team will share Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the 10:00 worship service about their trip.
Lunch Bunch Needs
First and third Saturdays each month
We need fruit cups for Lunch Bunch.  Please consider picking up a six pack of fruit cups when you do your family grocery shopping.  The children love the fruit and the Lunch Bunch volunteers appreciate it.
Prayers for the "Go Team"
DR Mission Trip is June 12-19, 2017
Many of the missioners on the "Go Team" will be commissioned at the 10:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, June 11. They request your prayers as they make the final preparations to leave for the Dominican Republic on Monday, June 12 -- 4 a.m. report time at the Valdosta Airport, then a flight to Atlanta, and then a second flight to Santo Domingo. Once they clear immigration and customs at the Santo Domingo airport, they will board their chartered bus for the four-hour ride to the Episcopal conference center, church and school in the village of El Pedregal.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you
Wherever he may send you
May he guide you through the wilderness
Protect you through the storm
May he bring you home rejoicing
At the wonders he has shown you
May he bring you home rejoicing
Once again into our doors.

Soup Kitchen Help Needed
Tuesday, July 4th
For the third year Christ Church is preparing bag lunches for 200 people who depend on the Soup Kitchen for meals.

T his year our day is Tuesday, July 4.  We are finished with everything by 1:00 pm, so you'll have time to enjoy July 4 festivities with your family.

We need contributions to purchase food and supplies, sandwich makers and lunch packers on the morning - 9:30 until 11:00 - volunteers to distribute the meals at the Soup Kitchen, volunteers to bake the turkey breasts the weekend before.

If you can help with any of these, please contact Sandra Fletcher,  or 244-5033.

If you would like to make a monetary contribution for this ministry, please send your checks to Christ Church with a notation that it is for the Soup Kitchen lunch.

Thank you so much for your support of this important ministry.
